North Eugene Dance Team

North Eugene Dance Team The North Eugene Dance Team is an integral part of North Eugene High School. Some of these rehearsals include early morning 6am practices.

Not only is the dance team considered an athletic sport, that competes at the OSAA level like volleyball, basketball and softball, it also is considered an art form. The dance team entertains, motivates and wows audiences everywhere from assemblies to halftimes to local competitions. The dancers rehearse 4 times a week from the beginning of the school year up until March when they have their State

championship up in Portland. The dancers are a dedicated group studying the different genres of dance including: hip hop, jazz, lyrical jazz, kickline, ballet and theater jazz. In the past we’ve taken home a wide range of trophies at local competitions from 4th place to 1st place. Last year we took 4th place at the OSAA state championship 2014 in 5A small, earning our first ever State trophy. This fall, 2015, we earned a 2nd place trophy in hip-hop, and qualified for the 2015 Category Championships. Although it’s not winning that always motivates the team. The dancers are humble and remember that it’s the journey and not always the destination; they stick to being the best that they can be and working to their full potential. After every practice they cheer and recall their team motto: SWEET-P. This motto stands for: Support, Work Ethic, Encouragement, Toughness, and Perseverance. With these words the team supports each other through the good and the tough times.

This award represents something bigger than dance ability. PEACHES stands for Passion, Effort, Accountability, Coachability, Humility, Excellence, and Sportsmanship—and this dancer embodies all of it.
As our only senior and a two-year captain, Justice has led with consistency, strength, and heart. You set the tone for what this team can and should be.
You show up with passion, you put in the work, you hold yourself accountable, and you lead with humility and respect for everyone around you.
Your impact on this team goes far beyond this season—it’s something that will last.

Our Miss Congeniality 2026 – Anabelle Simmons!
This award is especially meaningful because it’s voted on by the team. It reflects how someone shows up everyday, not just for themselves, but for other.
When asked to describe this individual, their teammates said things like:
“You’re always positive. You’re kind, helpful, and welcoming. Even on hard days, you continue to show up and support others. You give feedback with respect, and you genuinely care about your team.”

Congrats to our 2026 Academic Excellence award winner, Lila Procopio!
This award recognizes a dancer who has demonstrated exceptional dedication not only in the studio, but in the classroom.
Earning a 4.0 GPA while balancing the demands of dance team AND lacrosse is incredibly impressive. It shows discipline, time management, and a strong commitment to excellence in everything she does.
Lila, we are so proud of the standard you have set so early in your high school career, and we’re excited to see all that you continue to accomplish.

We’re honoring Justice for this senior Sunday.
This week marks the last competition and state championships for our one and only senior dancer. 🥹
Justice has been an excellent captain, and a star dance student and team member. She always keeps it real while holding kindness first. She’s been supportive not only to the other dancers on the team, but to our new coaching staff as well. A million thanks is not enough for all of the passion and effort she showed towards her team.
We are so excited for her future in the field of child development, and know that the skills she learned while on dance team (beyond leaps and turns) will carry her far in her life, wherever she goes.
