Rounding out the weekend and getting ready for a new week...less than one month from the first event of the new season!

The 2026–2027 season is officially underway for the Blue Mountain Christian University Fishing Team! We kicked off our first team meeting with great fellowship, food, and a strong word to start the new season on the right foundation.

A special thank you to Jason Campbell, FCA Area Outdoor Representative and former fishing coach at Itawamba Community College, for leading our team in devotion. We appreciate you taking the time to pour into our anglers and challenge them to grow not only as competitors, but as young men of faith.

We also want to give a huge thank you to Matt and Wendy Howell, parents of Chandler Howell, for treating the team to an incredible meal of smash burgers! Your support means so much to our team.

We’re excited for what God has in store for the BMCU Fishing Team this season. Let’s get to work!

🎣 FIVE STRAIGHT! 🎣

Today at the Bassmaster College National Championship pre-tournament briefing, Blake Bullock was recognized for an incredible accomplishment — qualifying for his 5th consecutive Bassmaster College National Championship!

Blake, a recent graduate of Blue Mountain Christian University, has earned his master’s degree in Business while establishing himself as a standout angler both on and off the water.

Five straight championships is an incredible achievement and a testament to Blake’s hard work, dedication, and consistency. We couldn’t be more proud of all he has accomplished as a student, an angler, and a representative of BMCU.

Congratulations, Blake! We are proud to call you a Topper!

Blue Mountain Christian University is proud to have three teams competing this week in the Bassmaster College National Championship on Leech Lake in Walker, Minnesota!

These six anglers have earned their place on the national stage through hard work, determination, and strong performances throughout the season.

🎣 Blake Bullock & Caden Alexander
This team punched their ticket to the National Championship back in February on Sam Rayburn Reservoir in Texas. They’ve continued to put in the work, and now they’re ready to represent BMCU on the biggest stage!

🎣 Clayton Ellis & Chandler Howell
They earned their spot in the championship in April on Kerr Reservoir in Oklahoma. We’re excited to see what this talented duo can accomplish on Leech Lake!

🎣 Waylin Hardison & Sawyer Brady
This team also qualified on Kerr Reservoir, earning their opportunity to compete for a national championship.

Waylin will be competing solo this week while Sawyer completes his training at the police academy. After graduation, Sawyer accepted a position with the Florence, Alabama Police Department. We are incredibly proud of Sawyer and grateful for his commitment to serving his community. 🇺🇸

Competition begins Thursday, with the full field competing for two days. Following Friday’s competition, the Top 10 teams in the standings will advance to Saturday’s final day of competition.

To Blake, Caden, Clayton, Chandler, Waylin, and Sawyer — congratulations on earning your place in the Bassmaster College National Championship! We are proud to have you represent Blue Mountain Christian University and wish you the very best on Leech Lake!
