After over 5 years, I’m saying goodbye to Bolt Power Skating!

I’m still coaching full time but I won’t be conducting my own clinics under this name anymore. Bolt has been a blast the past 5 years and I learned a lot about business but it’s definitely time for a new chapter. I’m stoked for the future! Only good things ahead!

In more important news though, the Florida Everblades are in game 4 tonight against the Wheeling Nailers with a 3-0 series lead! I can’t say enough about the talent on this team. They got this! Let’s Go Blades!🐊🔷

Season 3 with the Junior Everblades came to a close a bit ago but I still wanted to post about what a joy it was to work with these players this past season! The talent growing up right now is real. Proud of all of them.

The adaptive skate night at Hertz Arena this week made me miss my Richmond Retrievers. Truly one of the most impactful things I did while I was in Virginia. I am always thankful to the people and places that make opportunities like this possible!

Last summer, I met this player with a very unique skating habit. His left foot only skated on an outside edge. My eyes would watch him take a right turn but my mind didn't comprehend how he made it happen on two outside edges. At the beginning of the season, I took him on as a student I saw whenever I could make it work. He's worked hard to change that habit. The first video is from this past summer. The second video is from this past Monday. I can't put into words how proud I am of this player.

I showed my players this video yesterday during my Agility clinic. The look on their faces was one of my favorite moments. This is why power skating. It isn’t just blowing a whistle, goaline to goaline conditioning, or lots of yelling. It’s learning. It’s working your skating fundamentals so your balance, agility, and pressure (along with so many other things) increases. I could show you video after video of “why power skating.” The game is getting quicker, faster and sharper. You either keep up and get left back.
