While showing isn’t exactly our typical kind of outing these days, Jen & Rowan couldn’t miss the chance to be part of Myopia’s 125th Horse Show!

We had so much fun meeting up with our friends from BCR, spending the day surrounded by ponies and friends, and doing something a little outside our usual adventures!

Jen & Rowan brought home 2nd in the Hilltop Hunter US and 4th in Hunter Pairs alongside friend Taylor Pennell aboard Becca’s beautiful Miss Katriel!

All in all, such a fun day and a good reminder that sometimes it’s worth stepping outside your comfort zone, dusting off the show clothes, and seeing what happens.

Pretty proud of Rowan for proving once again that he’s game for just about anything we throw at him!

Our first Fall Roading of 2026 is in the books!

Yesterday, Melissa, Jen & Taylor headed out aboard Blue, Rowan & Toasty to join our friends from BCR and all of our fellow foxhunting friends for a beautiful ride through the countryside.

Perfect weather, great company, happy horses… and the ground bees were only a minor inconvenience. All in all, we couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to our fall season!

A BIG shoutout to Melissa for completing her very first hunt! 🎉 We’re so excited to have another one hooked!

And don’t forget Blue & Toasty are still looking for leasers! If spending your fall riding through the countryside sounds like your kind of fun, these boys are ready for more adventures!

Whether you’re on foot or horseback it’s a wonderful welcoming group of people and something very fun to be a part of!

I really want to get involved with the Myopia Hunt, how do I start?

There are a variety of mounted and unmounted ways to get involved with the Myopia Hunt Community!

Riders- join us! Reach out to our Hunt Secretary- Mary Milgrom, she can connect you with a professional to es**rt you and your horse, or connect you with a professional to supply you with a mount! This is also a great way to get general questions answered that you just might not be sure of!

You don’t ride? No problem!- our group of volunteers are what helps to make each day of hunting go smoothly, from road crossing, water stops, stirrup cups and teas there are many ways to be involved in hunt day activities! If you prefer a less social way to volunteer- we are constantly clearing in the countryside, building jumps and creating new trails!

With no Hound Exercises this morning, the horses and I enjoyed the rare luxury of sleeping in or at least they did. Anyone who cares for them doesn’t actually get to sleep in.

While we’re sad to miss a morning with our friends, we’re grateful for a little downtime before Fall Roading gears up and the early alarms return!

Until then, here’s a little recap of our 2026 Hound Exercises season full of great friends, happy horses, beautiful mornings, and just the right amount of organized chaos.

WORKING STUDENT WANTED!

Rowan’s Creek Equestrian is looking for a reliable working student to join our barn family!

Duties include:
Picking paddocks
Mucking stalls
Filling waters
Turn in/turn out
Basic barn chores & horse care

Amount of hours and hours themselves are VERY flexible making this a great fit for mom hours, a college schedule, or anyone looking for flexibility. Make your own schedule!

In exchange, there are lots of riding opportunities including but not limited to:
Ring lessons
Trail & beach rides
Foxhunting
Off-property adventures & more!

We have a welcoming, friendly barn environment and a large indoor arena for year-round riding.

If you’re hardworking, dependable, love horses, and want to ride more without breaking the bank, we’d love to hear from you!

Apparently carriages are significantly less concerning when you’re busy trying to figure out how to get the snack bar to stop moving. 😂

We are incredibly grateful to NSEA, Samantha Stevens & Kim Porter of the Myopia Driving Club, and of course Captain Bob, for a fantastic and informative introduction to carriages!

It was so fun to watch everyone’s different reactions, and we were pretty darn proud of our two boys, whose greatest concerns were that they couldn’t crib on the carriage and weren’t allowed to properly say hello to their new best friend, Bob.
Terrifying stuff, clearly.

Opportunities like this are such an important part of creating safe, confident horses outside of the ring. Bikes, runners, walkers, dogs, carriages and all the other surprises we encounter on the trails, we want our horses prepared for them. Not only for the safety of ourselves and our horses, but because we share these trails with others and have a responsibility to make sure they can safely enjoy them too.

Thank you to everyone who made such a great morning possible! We left feeling very educated, very grateful, and maybe just a little smug about how freaking good our horses are. 💜

Rowan’s Creek Equestrian is looking for a Working Student!

We’re looking for someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a genuine love of horses. Responsibilities include mucking stalls, picking paddocks, turning horses in and out, and helping maintain the high standard of care and cleanliness we’re known for.

The ideal candidate can walk, trot, and canter and has an interest in foxhunting and riding beyond the arena.

In exchange, you’ll have opportunities for lessons, foxhunting, beach rides, and other off-property adventures while learning alongside a supportive and welcoming program.

Rowan’s Creek is proud to provide exceptional care for our boarders and is home to a wonderful group of safe, sane, and sound lesson horses.

Today’s adventure was one for the books! 💜

We met up with some of our BCR friends at Pipestave Hill for a ba****ck hack before making our way to Mill Pond for one very important mission: horse swimming.

The reviews were… mixed.

Otto apparently decided he’s actually a merman and had no intentions of coming back to shore.
Rowan took up snorkeling.
Toasty enthusiastically submerged his entire face but politely declined the “deep end” experience.
Pluto, as always, was the perfect gentleman and made the whole thing look effortless.

Days like these are our favorite. Good friends, happy horses, and a little adventure outside the arena remind us why we do what we do. Giving our horses new experiences keeps them curious, confident, and engaged and honestly, watching their personalities shine is half the fun.

We never take for granted how lucky we are to share life with these incredible animals. 💜
