Having a really hard time putting together a post this weekend. I'm having trouble putting my emotions in to words. I spent the weekend remembering the 5yr anniversary of loosing my hunting and fishing partner, my best friend, my father. He passed away late at night on the 15th 5 yrs ago. This morning I decided to grab his rifle, sit in his stand and really prayed for a chance at a buck. At 8:00 I was completely devastated, my target buck came in to 50 yards and either saw or winded me and bolted with no shot opportunity. Half an hour later I had a spike chase a couple does past me but again no chance. At 8:30 a group of does came running at me, and I figured, here comes my chance, and sure enough out pops a buck, and then another, both yearnings. I chose the fork horn and took my shot. He just sped up and disappeared into the brush. I gave it 30 minutes and went to look for blood or any sign of a hit. Looked and looked and found nothing and decided to head to where he disappeared, followed a trail into the woods, and there he was, 10 yards from the trail to my stand. Emotions then took over and I spent the next hour crying too much to even field dress him. I thank God for this buck, probably more than any other I've been able to harvest. Just remember, a trophy isn't always measured by the score!

It's that wonderful time of year again! You just don't ever know where you'll find me! 😆 Not sure if I like getting eaten alive by mosquitoes in the duck blind, but the girls didn't seem to mind!

Well, the weather sure wasn't as bad as predicted. Made for a pretty nice weekend sitting in the stand. Saw a few deer, but nothing showed up that I was looking for. Waiting for some cool weather to get the big boys a little fired up!

What a beautiful weekend! Got out on the lake on Saturday for a good multi species morning with my partner in crime. Went to a family reunion, and did a little fence repair to try to keep the goats in the pasture🤣

Picture perfect end to a wonderful weekend aboard the "Rain or Shine"! Quite a few Lakers made it aboard and the unicorn Walleye found its way in to the fish box!

What an absolutely terrific end to a beautiful weekend. I was once again blessed to be able to take part in the annual Silver Bay Veterans Home fishing day. Almost perfect weather to spend the morning honoring the men and women who have done so much for all of us, and the fish didn't disappoint!

It sure was a beautiful weekend to kick off the 2925 season. Hard to beat the weather, but the action was a little slow for us. I was able to take home enough for a nice fish fry for mother's day!

What a change of weather! I made it out for the last day of inland walleye season, didn't find any walleye or northern, but found a pretty good bunch of crappies, with a couple bonus bass and a tullibee. Beautiful last day of season. Hard to ask for a better day! And a nice fish fry to end the day!

I must be getting old🤣 Opening day of trout season and me and the kids have the same idea. Too da.. cold, stay in bed and wait for better weather🥶😜
