This is an effective new law that governs the safe pass distance & requiring a vehicle to slow down to pass safely. Listen to the Free podcast & attached article for insight on how to enforce this law if it was violated. I often plead this law in lawsuits when the motorist unsafely passed. Proof will result in a finding of negligence per se in favor of the bicyclist. It includes the entire overtaking process be done 3 feet away from the bicyclist. Sometimes motorists misjudge the bike as they pass & renter the lane due to blind spots on the right rear side of a vehicle. This is a violation too.
