As Most of You know – The introduction to the Market of the Drop Point Hunter rests Squarely on one Man. Bob Loveless. Once Bob introduced his Drop Hunter the market was changed Forever. The Original pattern – which we make as well – took the Hunting Market by storm and it continues to this day.
The original pattern is great and is copied by tons of makers all over the world. There were some limitations to the original pattern. One was the Size of the handle. The other was Blade length. Bob Reacted to this further interest with the Final and actually most Comfortable to use version of his Drop Hunter. He made the handle even more Ergonomic and changed the actual usable length of handle to give folks with larger hands and folks who wanted to hold the knife in different grips. He called it the Lamb's Foot Handle. By eliminating the standard guard and building in a Self Guard it allowed the user more hand hold and more options on gripping the knife for other tasks.
We have made the final and - for me – the most comfortable of the Drop Hunter patterns. We made the knife slightly larger than Bob's original giving us a bit more blade without making the knife too large to use well and the carry easily.
In the Years before he passed Bob was Charging $3600.00 for this pattern. Ours is a fraction of that original Custom Price but we have incorporated every feature that Bob wanted in the knife. We also made the knife in the Steel that Bob pioneered into the market – CPM 154.
The Bark River 2019 Guardless Drop Point Hunter is an incredibly usable piece of Knifemaking History.
