🔥Welcome to the team Jessi! 🔥
We are so excited to welcome Jessi to the team! We asked her a few questions so you could get to know her.
She is now accepting new clients-sign up for one on one sessions or small group training! Message us or call 906-217-2011.
🏋🏽♀️ How did you get into fitness/personal training?
I grew up watching a lot of the adults around me talk pretty poorly about themselves—their bodies, their minds, their worth—and I also watched people who were supposed to love them speak to them that way. Eventually, I learned to treat myself the same way.
I developed a pretty serious eating disorder and an incredibly unhealthy relationship with food and my body. There were expectations put on me at a young age that, looking back, were honestly pretty gross, and I became a pretty vain, image-focused young woman.
It wasn’t until I moved back to the U.P., 23 years ago, that I looked in the mirror one day and genuinely didn’t recognize myself. That became a turning point. I changed my habits, dove headfirst into fitness and nutrition, and somewhere along the way learned that taking care of my body wasn’t about punishing it or making it look a certain way—it was about learning to respect it. And ultimately, taking care of my body helped me learn how to take care of my mind, too.
That’s a huge part of why I became a trainer. I want to help people discover what their bodies are capable of and learn to love and respect themselves exactly where they are while they work toward wherever they want to go.
💪🏽What’s your favorite exercise?
Heavy lifting and pretty much any HIIT workout. I absolutely adore getting my heart rate up and pushing the limits of what I think my body—and my mind—are capable of.
📝What’s your best piece of fitness advice?
It’s a journey. It’s truly a lifestyle. And if you fall off the wagon, beating yourself up won’t help you climb back on.
Change comes from choices, and habits come from making those choices over and over. Start again with your next choice. Then the next one. Then the next one.
Also, eat the cake. 🤙🏼 Life is short.
⭐️What do you do when you’re not at Sullivan’s?
I get into trouble with my three kids—boy/girl/boy, ages 8, 13 and 15. Seriously, this is my circus and these are absolutely my monkeys! 😂
I also own a food trailer called The Boppin’ Betty, where I create ridiculously large loaded baked potatoes and sweet potatoes for all you fine folks.
So basically, I’m a personal trainer AND your local spud dealer. 😬🥔 Balance, people. It’s all about balance. 😂
