I worked in the finance business for 10 years-in June of 2010 my branch and position was eliminated. I did'nt want to go back into finance business, I want to do something on my own. First thoughts were to open a bakery with my wife Erin. We thought about the positives and negatives of this business. Then I thought-I love working with people and making them smile. I love helping people become bett
er bowlers. I have been bowling for over 23 years and I enjoy the sport as much as anybody in Erie. I thought opening a stand alone pro shop would allow me to share my experience and knowlegde of the sport with others and maybe help them enjoy the sport as much as I do. One thing I strive on is good customer service. I Went to see my brother Patrick Eighmy in Eudora Kansas in september of 2010 and went through a training program that his boss, Jesse James offers at "In the Zone Pro Shop". I learned the in and outs of the pro shop business. Patrick introduced me to Jayhawk bowling and supplies located in lawrence kansas. I learned how to use some high tech equipment and purchased my pro shop package through them in december of 2010. I am very impressed with their customer service and the drilling machine and other pro shop tools that I have received. I will upload pictures of the drill press soon. You can also check out the Tri-oval Press on their Website-www.jayhawkbowling.com I now have great knowledge about this business-it is very exciting. I have my brother on my side as a mentor. My next step was to find and remodel a place. I needed a place that wasnt to big but allowed me to display my drill press and inventory. I needed a place that was very comfortable for people to come into. I found it on the west side corner of 34th and state. Great location, and very supportive landlords. I began the remodeling process in mid december-I am doing all the work myself and the help of family and friends. I am about 80% complete with the remodeling and and very excited to share my place with everyone. It is turning out to be a very modern pro shop, very comfortable to walk into, and relaxing. I hope to open in mid feb. of this year. I will keep everyone updated on the opening date. Opening day will be filled with give aways, food and fun. I have a lot of special programs I am going to offer everyone. I plan on carrying a full line of balls, bags, shoes and accessories. I also offer a number of other serivces. More info on everything will be posted soon. One thing I do plan on doing is being strongly tied into the Greater Erie junior Program. I want to support this program as much as possible.
