Shawn is in the "skin sewing" faze of this build. He credits his sister Cheryl with teaching him to sew as a kid. These photos show the initial seam being sewn followed by the "whip stitch", which can only be done 2 inches at a time before moving the clamps again. Thank you Cheryl!

Shawn has completed the lacing of his latest kayak build. He continues to refine his techniques to create even tighter joints. He has also incorporated cedar strips into the cockpit seat for better contrast. This project is scheduled to be completed by August and is for sale at wildwatercraft.etsy.com. Also pictured is the "coaming" section he made out of cedar. This fits onto the top portion of the cockpit.

Shawn is ready to begin lacing the latest kayak. All joints will be hand sewn using artificail sinew. This method allows the boat to remain flexible for a smooth paddle while offering superior durability.
