Hello ROYALS families past and present,
We were just made aware of changes to SAU14 policy for facility use that the superintendent is proposing to the Epping school board this Thursday 3 Oct 24. The proposed changes will have a devastating effect on our organization and other non-profits such as EYAA. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) the current policy allows for use of school facilities at no charge. Because of this we are able to offer our program to athletes that may not be able participate in this sport through all-star programs that are too costly for many.
Our relationship with the school in this aspect was amiable for several years. Over the past year or so it has deteriorated. The ease at which we had been able to schedule use of the gym for practices has become increasingly difficult.
Additional proposed changes include shifting control of decision making for non-profits from the school board to solely the superintendent. We believe that giving just one person such power could potentially be bad for some organizations over others that one person may favor. Leaving those decisions to the school board of five seems to be a more wise decision,
Attached you will find the proposed changes the superintendent is asking the school board to approve.

There is a section on the petition for comments. If you would like to write a longer more detailed message for the school board I will include it when we send the petition. It does ask for donation but please skip that part.
Thank you for your continued support!
