Coach Rick is the kind of coach every team needs—always willing to jump in and help wherever he’s needed. Whether it’s assisting with drills, supporting athletes, or lending a hand behind the scenes, Rick is always happy to help and ready to do whatever is asked of him.
Known for his quiet, friendly nature, Coach Rick brings a calm and approachable presence to the sidelines. He connects well with the athletes and creates a positive environment where kids feel supported and encouraged as they learn and grow.
We’re grateful to have Coach Rick as part of the Jr. Hornets family and appreciate everything he does for our athletes and program! 🐝🏈

We’re excited to share an incredible opportunity for the girls in our community! 🏈♥️💛🖤
While this camp is not hosted by the Enumclaw Jr. Hornets, it is being organized by the Enumclaw High School Girls Flag Football Booster Club, and with girls flag football continuing to grow at an incredible pace across the nation, we wanted to help spread the word about this exciting experience.

The first-ever Girls Flag Football Youth Camp is open to girls entering 3rd–8th grade during the 2026–2027 school year. This camp is a fantastic chance for young athletes to learn the game, build confidence, develop new skills, and have fun alongside other girls interested in flag football.

All proceeds from the camp will directly benefit the EHS Girls Flag Football Booster Club and support the continued growth of the program.

Up next, we’re excited to welcome Coach John Upshaw to the 6th grade team as an assistant coach! 💛🖤

While this may be Coach John’s first year coaching tackle football, his passion for the game and excitement for helping young athletes learn and grow make him a great addition to the field . He’ll be working with our running backs, focusing on fundamentals while teaching the importance of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Coach John is known for being easygoing and approachable. He brings a calm, even-tempered presence to the team and is always willing to step up and help wherever he’s needed. His enthusiasm for football and dedication to our athletes will undoubtedly make a positive impact this season. We can’t wait for Coach John to bring his energy and enthusiasm to this season! 🐝🏈

Up next, we’re excited to recognize 6th Grade Assistant Coach Gary Reynolds! 💛🖤
If you’ve spent any time around youth sports in our community, chances are you’ve heard Coach Gary’s name before. He’s built a reputation as the kind of coach athletes want to play for across many different youth sports, and families are excited to have on the field. So when Coach Gary chose to join the Jr. Hornets nearly three seasons ago, we knew exactly what kind of addition he’d be to our program—and he hasn’t disappointed.
Coach Gary brings a fun, approachable energy that athletes naturally connect with, while also encouraging them to work hard, stay coachable, and always give their best effort. He has a way of helping athletes build confidence, develop strong character, and believe in what they’re capable of both on and off the field.
Three seasons in, Coach Gary continues to encourage our athletes to challenge themselves, trust in their abilities, and discover just how much they’re capable of achieving. We’re excited to see all that this season has in store for our 6th grade team.

Up next, we’re excited to recognize 6th Grade Head Coach Judah Salazar!
Coach Judah started his Jr. Hornets journey as an assistant coach, but after just one season, he stepped seamlessly into the Head Coach role—and it’s clear that’s exactly where he’s meant to be.
Leading a large team is no easy task, but Coach Judah does it with an easygoing style that athletes and parents love. He challenges his players to grow, build confidence, and develop their skills, all while making sure they enjoy the journey along the way.
And if you’ve ever watched one of Coach Judah’s teams take the field, you know one thing for sure—the game isn’t over until the final whistle blows. His athletes fight until the very last second, showing determination, grit, and a refusal to back down that keeps everyone on the edge of their seats.
Thank you, Coach Judah, for your leadership, positivity , and dedication to the Jr. Hornets. We’re grateful for the energy, competitiveness, and heart you bring to our 6th grade program! 🐝🏈

💛🖤 Staff Spotlight: Team Mom Edition 💛🖤
Up next, we’d like to recognize our 5th Grade Team Moms, Caitlin Tannahill and Khyrsten McMillen!
This will be Khyrsten’s first year as a Team Mom, but don’t let that fool you—she’s been part of the Jr. Hornets family for nearly six years. While you may find her quietly observing from her own little bubble across the field, she’s always been one of the first to ask, “What do you need? How can I help?” Stepping into this role has come so naturally, you’d think she’s been doing it all along.
Caitlin is entering her third year as Team Mom for this team, while also taking on her first season as Vice President on the board, along with many other behind-the-scenes roles that help keep the organization running smoothly. She has a strong understanding of what it takes to make a season as successful as possible.
Together, these two are a powerhouse. If something needs to be handled, chances are it’s already been taken care of—quickly, quietly, and without needing to be asked. Problem-solving? Check. Undercover agents when necessary? Absolutely. 😂
Most importantly, they’re all in for these athletes. Whether it’s hyping them up, celebrating the big wins, helping navigate the tough moments, offering redirection, or showing a little tough love when needed, they treat every player like one of their own.
The coaches can focus on coaching because these ladies are busy making sure everything else falls into place—and the 5th grade team is lucky to have them in their corner.

Up next, we’re excited to recognize 5th Grade Assistant Coach X!
We’re grateful to have Coach X back on the field with us for his second season of tackle football with the Jr. Hornets.
Coach X holds these athletes to a high standard and continually challenges them to give their best effort and strive to become the best version of themselves. He sees the potential in players long before they see it in themselves, pushing them to build confidence, work harder, and let their talents shine.
He isn’t afraid to deliver the tough-love conversations when they’re needed, always with the goal of helping these athletes grow both on and off the field. Coach X celebrates every victory right alongside his players, and he feels the tough losses just as deeply as they do.
We’re thankful for the passion, dedication, and high expectations Coach X brings to our program and can’t wait to see the impact he continues to have this season.

Up next, Coach Thomas!
Heading into his second season on the Jr. Hornets tackle football field, and if there’s one thing we know about him, it’s that he’s genuinely excited to be here!
Despite having no family ties to any of our players and making a long drive to be on the field, Coach Thomas shows up to every practice and game ready to give his all to our athletes. His dedication to these boys and love for the game does not go unnoticed.
Coach Thomas knows how to keep things fun and goofy with the athletes, but when it’s time to lock in, work hard, and get down to business, he knows exactly how to lead with purpose. He brings an energy that players naturally gravitate toward, creating an environment that is positive and encouraging.
His enthusiasm, uplifting attitude, and passion for helping young athletes grow make him an incredible part of our coaching staff, and we’re grateful to have him back for another season.
We’re excited to see the impact Coach Thomas continues to make this year!

We’re excited to welcome Coach Greg to the Jr. Hornets tackle football sidelines this season! 💛🖤

While Greg may be new to the Jr. Hornets tackle field, he’s no stranger to working with athletes. This past spring, we were fortunate to have him lead our very first Jr. Hornets Girls Flag Football team. From the moment the season ended, we were hopeful he’d join us this fall—and we’re thrilled to announce that he has!

Greg is one of those coaches who is incredibly approachable, genuine, and easy to connect with. His passion for being on the field, combined with his wealth of knowledge and positive attitude, makes him a tremendous addition to our program.

After seeing the impact he had with our girls flag athletes, we know he’ll step into this role seamlessly and make an immediate difference for our football players. We can’t wait to see the impact Coach Greg has this season! 🐝🏈

We are excited to announce a Summer Camp this July. We hope to see all of you high school kids out there in just a few short weeks.
