Apparently I am super bad at show updates. Because this one is late....again. We took a small group of horses to WEC for the late June show and had a really great weekend. Tony Binion rode his horse, Santino, at 4-3 all weekend and had really nice, consistent tests with scores solidly in the mid 60's and winning both of his classes. They are really getting stronger and stronger and gearing up for their FEI career. Tony also brought along his new 4 year old, Zeke, and took him in a Materiale class on Friday. Ummm, that went well with an 83.8%. Zeke was nervous in the upper ring, but was such a good boy strutting his stuff. This one is a special one for sure. Julie Moore took her own Donegal out for his second show ever. She handled the weekend so well and they won their training level class on Friday with a 66%. On Saturday, Donegal got a bit scared in the upper ring, but they worked through it and finished strong. A great confidence builder for their next show. I took my own Zakato out for the first time in 2 years (his 3rd show ever) at 3rd level. I was so pleased with him! I am figuring this boy out and realizing that he absolutely does not sleep when away from home. The first two days he was fantastic! By his 3rd day, he was running on adrenaline and by day 4 he was exhausted. His last test he tried so hard for me, but just had nothing left to give. I just need to figure out the right process for him to shine. I also took my young horse, Carlo, out for his 2nd show. He was such a super star on the first day. I couldn't have asked for anything better (literally). Unfortunately, his rider apparently hasn't mastered single loop geometry ???? Sigh. Carlo's Saturday ride was in the "scary" upper ring and there was some spinning, broncing and general mayhem. Let's just say we used the judging scale from 2-8. 😉
Huge thank you to Maddy Waite groom extraordinaire for all of the help and to Jessica Mayer for once again allowing us to stay in your lovely home. Thank you, thank you!!!
