Tuesday Men’s League 6-16
Just when the League seemed to take one step forward, it takes 17 steps backwards. This week, only 2 teams finished on the plus side, while 11 teams were minus. In an oddity, 7 teams were either -7 or -8. Consistency.
+4.5 won this week and the most unlikely of unlikely players to lead this team were Gary MIA Geraw and Mr. Ed.
They were a combined +7 and that overcame the performances of Tricky Dick Wakefield and Skid Mark LeClair.
A tie for most over with Evan Goose Perry and Soupie who were both 6 over. Goose had a couple of birdies and Soupie didn’t have any 12’s. Winners get $12.
A -13 posted by Jim Shank Hemingway, Mark Frenchman St. Pierre, and Tim Bodyshop Dulude looked to be enough to win the Dumpster. Hold the phone. In comes Brent Smiley Lussier, Ernie The Hat Flanders, Dick The Warden Hislop, and a guy who was mentioned so often last year, he was offered his own TV show, Bob Shorty Ruiter. These guys posted a -14.5 to sn**ch victory from the jaws of defeat and claim the Dumpster Fire Award.
Last week, More or Les Johnson set a new bar for the Crash and Burn Trophy by going -13.5. He made a run for a new low this week by going -8.5 and secured another Crash and Burn Trophy. Will he go for the trifecta next week?
Speaking of things getting old, Rick Marsh Mellow won his second consecutive closest to pin this week with a shot of under 5 feet on hole #6.Where’s a Marshall when you need one? $49 was the payout.
The 50-50 paid $55 and was won by Kings of Leon West.
Bone, being the world traveler he is, brings us news on a Sunday outing with Goose, Winston, and Pistol Pete Columb. Big hitter Goose, was on #4 tee box and took a mighty swing. He hit it off the hosel sideways and hit Bone’s golf cart with Bone in it. Shaken, Bone offered Goose a breakfast ball. Goose said no, he played it where it laid, and hit it into the woods.
Bone caught up with Goose later.
Bone: “So Goose, you were pretty shaken up. Not as much as me, but still.”
Goose: “My therapy session was longer that afternoon. My support group is so important in times like these.”
Bone: “Support group? Do they have room for me?”
Goose: “no.”
5 skins this week with Mike Stewey Stuart on #7, Goose on #10, Rick Fore Wheeler on #12, The Hat on #16, Mike Golden Godin on #17, and Warren Haulin’ Dahlin on #18. Skins pay $10.
Next week, will Les and Marsh Mellow continue on the road they’re on, or will somebody else take the wheel?
We will find out next Tuesday
