For many years, Tom Nelson’s voice was a familiar part of baseball at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

From Enid High and Northern Oklahoma College to the NJCAA Division II World Series and many games in between, Tom spent countless hours behind the microphone sharing the game with players, coaches and fans.

We are grateful for the many years Tom was part of our Ballpark and our baseball community.

Our sincere condolences are with his family, friends and colleagues. Tom will be greatly missed.

RIP: It is with deep sadness that we announce another loss in our community with the passing of Tom Nelson. Tom had one of the most recognizable voices in sports for our area. Condolences go out to his family.

David Allen Memorial Ballpark was established through the vision and generosity of Joan and Paul Allen honoring their late son, David Allen. To preserve that legacy, a public-private partnership among the David Allen Memorial Ballpark Governing Board, the City of Enid, and Enid Public Schools was established to guide the facility's long-term success. Since opening, under the leadership of Director Bill Mayberry and through the commitment of its partners, David Allen Memorial Ballpark has become one of Oklahoma's premier amateur baseball facilities.

This leadership has allowed David Allen Memorial Ballpark to become home to Enid Public Schools Baseball, Northern Oklahoma College, the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series, Oklahoma State Games, youth baseball organizations, Vance Air Force Base events, local nonprofits, community organizations, corporate partners, and hundreds of thousands of athletes, families, and visitors over the past two decades.

The ballpark operates through a collaborative governance structure in which each partner fulfills an important role. Enid Public Schools serves as the primary baseball tenant, with Head Baseball Coach Brad Gore responsible for baseball scheduling on behalf of the district.

As interest in the facility continues to grow, requests for use are evaluated alongside the commitments of our primary tenants, championship events, operational responsibilities, and the long-term stewardship of the ballpark.

David Allen Memorial Ballpark has never been the work of one person or one organization. Its success is the result of a shared vision, strong partnerships, and a community committed to preserving one of Enid's greatest assets. David Allen Memorial Ballpark remains committed to honoring the vision of Paul and Joan Allen, strengthening the partnerships that have defined its success, and ensuring this facility continues to serve the people of Enid for generations to come.

The Oklahoma State Games are back at David Allen Memorial Ballpark tomorrow, Monday, July 6th after June’s weather cancellations. Five games are on the schedule, with first pitch at 9:00 AM.
