This is a long post, but please take the time to read.❤️
I've written and deleted this post more times than I can count.
For nearly 9 years, Fly Fitness Studio has been my second home. In September, we would have celebrated 9 years in this location. Looking back through old photos, I'm overwhelmed by everything we've shared together...first classes, friendships that were formed, tears that were shed, laughter that echoed through these walls, challenges we overcame, and countless memories made one song at a time.
Music brought us together, but it was always about so much more than fitness.
My goal was never just to create a place to work out. I wanted Fly Fitness to be a place where people felt welcome, supported, encouraged, and safe. A place where you could walk through the doors carrying the weight of the world and leave feeling a little lighter.
Because of this studio, I've had the privilege of meeting some of the most incredible women. Many of you came in as strangers and became friends, family, and part of a community that I will forever cherish.
Unfortunately, after the third major flood in less than a year, I have made the difficult decision to close this location.
This decision was not made lightly, and it was not one I wanted to make. The repeated flooding has created conditions that I do not feel are safe or healthy for myself, or the community we have built here. While I have invested significant time, effort, and resources into restoring the space after previous floods, I no longer feel that continuing in the current circumstances is the right choice.
Sometimes life throws challenges at us that are completely outside of our control.
When that happens, we have two choices: stay stuck in what was, or trust that one chapter can close so another can begin.
Throughout the years, I've always said that fitness is a lifestyle, not a destination. The same can be said for life itself. Growth isn't always a straight path. Sometimes we're forced to change direction, adapt, and find a new way forward. That's where I find myself today.
As many of you know, my mom passed away last week and that itself has been very heavy.
Between that and the challenges surrounding the studio, I know it's time for me to step back, recharge, and trust God's timing for what comes next.
BUT THIS IS NOT GOODBYE!
Fly Fitness is not disappearing.
We will simply become "mobile fitness" for a while.
I'll be offering classes in various locations so everyone can continue using their punch cards. Think cardio and strength training on the trails, PiYo in the park(s) , Fit Camps and BodyShok outdoors, and maybe even a dance class or two squeezed in along the way.
For my personal training clients (or anyone interested in one-on-one coaching) I'll also be offering mobile personal training and can come to you. Please reach out to me to schedule.
And if you've been around me for any length of time, you know one thing:
I am many things, but a quitter isn't one of them.
This chapter may be ending, but I fully believe there are bigger and better things ahead. The path just looks a little different than I expected. I have faith that God is not finished writing this story.
FIT FAMILY: I'd love to hear from you.
What brought you to Fly Fitness? What's your favorite memory, class or event picture, special friendship, or story from our years together?
Share it in the comments. I'd love for us to celebrate everything we built together.
The building may be closing, but the mission remains the same: helping people move, grow stronger, and live healthier lives. Fitness is a lifestyle, not a destination, and Fly Fitness will continue to evolve right along with it.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: From the bottom of my heart, thank you for every class attended, every encouraging word, every laugh, every tear, every song, every hug, every drop of sweat, and every moment we've shared inside these walls. Together, we've worked hard, grown stronger, and built something truly special.
This isn't the ending.
It's simply the beginning of the next chapter.
ALL OF MY LOVE AND LIGHT, STEPH ❤️
