It is with great sadness that I am letting you know about the passing of my dear friend Tom Barber. Our friendship goes back 50 years where we roomed together at the 1975 Colorado/New Mexico Regional Golden Gloves Tournament in Pueblo CO. Over the years as we both transitioned into boxing coaches, I came to admire Tom for his effective coaching practices. His boxers were always very well trained and disciplined. His student's accomplishments are extremely impressive. Including all his children who are champion boxers.

Tom had a strong willingness to share his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I am fortunate to have had Tom as a mentor in the faith.

Tom influenced thousands of lives in a positive way with his coaching and his faith, he will be truly missed.

Went out to Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago with the Gonzalez family. Our young star Lluvia Gonzalez was matched with a local girl but it fell through. However we did get a pic with former World Champion Eddie Mustafa Muhammad. 👊👊👊@

20th Street Boxing Club Annual Awards/Benefit dinner was a great success tonight. It was the most fun one of all time. Shout out to La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant 2340 Champa St. who have hosted our event for 14 years straight, thank you so much. Also big thank you to family and friends who volunteered to help out, and those who donated raffle items, you make it possible. And of course much love to everyone who came out to support. May your generosity come back to you 100 fold. 👊👊👊🙏

Lluvia Gonzalez in blue gave a tremendous showing today for 20th Street Boxing Club in her amateur debut. 2-1 split decision loss but we are extremely proud of her. 👊👊

20th Street Boxing is happy to announce that we have received a grant this year from the Daniels Fund. Things are progressing very excellent for us as we opened a new location at 3108 W. Hampden Ave. Unit C in May and this grant will go a long way to insuring that our future will endure as well as our legacy. Much thanks and appreciation to all the fine people at the Daniels Fund who keep Bill Daniels’ work in the community going strong. Wow, what an amazing human being and life story. I attend the Celebration of Life for Joe Mason today. Standing room only, over 500 people there. His family, friends, coworkers, boxing associates, and church brothers and sisters, gave us clear view into who he was. His dedication to loving and caring for all the people who had the privilege of knowing him is beyond remarkable. Our world is different place now that he has gone, but he will never be forgotten. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. God Bless you Joe Mason.
