Great night on the water with Dom Ruggerio of Chicago who made his perennial trip to Florida for a little night and day snook trip. He caught many nice snook on fly .
Nice to have a war hero onboard, it was an honor.

March always seems to bring out the best in "Mother Nature"...warm sunny days and then ice cold north winds followed by rain....Just not prime fishing conditions..but for those who brave the conditions and find solutions on the water, good things happen.
Greg Haller from Oregon found himself in horrible conditions but made great casts throughout the day and was rewarded with plenty of nice snook including the one pictured..He is an avid "Steelheader" and our horrible weather didn't seem to bother him....I was freezing!

The First Day
Had a great three days of fishing despite high winds and no water on Saturday. Didi Ranz from Germany got lots of firsts for species caught,
1st seatrout
1st mackerel
1st ladyfish
1st snook
1st catfish
He is a skilled fly fisher and has caught fish all over the world but said he "liked the number of species " we had to offer. He had a nice red on but it unbuttoned also.
Rick Newman also got his 1st snook and seatrout on the day prior...
They both said it was a first but not last visit to Florida...
Nice going!I am holding Didi"s snook and one of the many mackerel that he caught...he wanted a picture of me for friends in Germany and Switzerland...Great days on the water

March was a decent month eventhough we had high winds, cold weather and a fluctuating barometer. Here is a pictorial review of the month.
April has already started with the sighting of Tarpon... some real monster laid-up fish...all within casting distance! We will hit them next week!!
Spring is here and the snook fishing has already gotten better with the higher daytime tides and more moving water. Fishing grass- flats has been productive .
Tarpon...I have a few days open in May....7th thru 11th
June available dates are18th thru 22nd.

Fishing report
Topwater fishing yesterday in the rain produced snook, trout and this 35" beauty caught by Tosh Bance and friend Mary. Tosh did a great job of keeping her out of the mangroves. Looking forward to next week

Had a great week of fly fishing even with low water conditions. Oregon native Greg Haller had a super day landing Redfish, Snook and a big Sheepshead on fly. Ed Borm from VA. had good night snook fishing alongside his son Justin who managed his first snook on fly . Grandson Barrett was simply interested with the dolphin that showed up as usual.Glen Utah had a productive day catching Seatrout and Snook on Gurglers which was an added treat.
Got to Captain John Hoders new boat...26ft Caravelle with tower.
Sat in tower with three remotes around my neck all day... Two power poles and an Ulterra trolling motor...The boat drafted 12 inches allowing me to get on some flats where they got to fly cast to cruising snook and redfish. Jimmy landed his first snook on fly and promised to buy dinner.....
Poling the 26footer was difficult!
Barry from the New Jersey gang caught nice snook on fly as he does every year.... February and March fishing is just going to get better and better... all we need is water, water, water!

Fly fishing the Everglades is always fun simply because you can catch an array of species of salt and freshwater. This trip was about bridges and canals where the action was good for Bluegill, cyclids and Oscars......Terrific 3wt action....
