This detail is hard to see and easy to miss.

Instead of bending sideways, Selena was shifting sideways.

The movements look similar, but Side Overs were always hurting her low back and needed a deeper dive.

When we found more lateral flexion, the work spread through more of the side body (including the obliques) instead of feeling concentrated in the low back.

This exercise is very challenging and may take time to build up to.

We can’t focus without tight hair!

Pilates for Dancers (Teen 12+) starts next Wednesday at 3pm.

This drop-in class is designed to help dancers better understand their bodies, improve movement quality, and build strength that transfers back into the studio and onto the stage.

Whether you’re working on technique, preventing injuries, or simply looking for a smarter way to cross-train, we’d love to have you join us this summer.

Come when it works!

The hardest part of Pilates is fixing your hair.

The second hardest part is finding your alignment.

Check in on your ribs and pelvis and watch the magic happen: you’re sitting taller, breathing easier, and wondering why you don’t always sit this way.

Welcome to June!

Summer is here, and while schedules may shift, June is a great time to stay connected to your Pilates practice.

As always, our goal is not movement for movements sake, but rather building a body that feels both good and reliable.

Teen Classes for Summer
Starting 6/10 we will be offering TWO Teen (12+) classes on Wednesdays:

Pilates for Teens at 12:30 with Janice

Pilates for Dancers (12+) with Selena

These are both designed to be drop-ins because we know life gets busy. Your teens can share your subscriptions or packages. We are also offering a shareable 9 pack for the summer.

It’s graduation season and graduation day in Encinitas.

While there aren’t any caps and gowns here, we’ve been thinking about our original Level 1 cohort this week.

They started by learning the basics: footwork, springs, terminology, and how the equipment works.

Now they’re stronger, more confident, and moving through work that would have felt completely unfamiliar when they started.

One of the things we love most about Pilates is that progress slowly and daily. Then one day you look back and realize how far you’ve come.

Congratulations to all of our graduates this season!

The ped-o-pole is such a humbling way to work your arms and upper body. It a reality check for your spine and posture.

If you’ve been avoiding your tech neck, the ped-o-pole will tell you the truth!

Teaching a Small Group feels a little like conducting an orchestra. It takes a great deal of skill.

Watching springs, bodies, pacing, breathing, modifications, timing, and who needs attention next.

We keep our groups small so that everyone is seen and gets the attention they need.

The basics always feel like home:
breath, pressure through the feet, and paying attention to the body.

Footwork is so much more than feet.

Short week. Strong foundation.

We’re considering adding a small-group Teen Pilates series this summer at Spring Theory Pilates and wanted to gauge interest.
Comment “Teen” and we will add you to our interest list and follow up.

The focus would be on:
• Strength and coordination
• Mobility and posture
• Injury prevention and body awareness
• Cross-training for sports, dance, and active teens

We’re currently considering:
• Ages: teens 12-17
• Small groups reformer (6 max)
• 1x/week summer series
• Wednesdays 12:30pm or 3pm Wednesdays.

We expect that Teens will be in and out with travel etc.

If there’s enough interest, we’ll put together the details and confirm. Your teens can share their parents’ memberships.

She originally came to Pilates because a PT tech suggested it for her sciatica, but that was only the starting point.

Over time, Patricia has achieved much more than simple pain relief. She has stronger movement, more mobility, and more confidence.

One of the most rewarding parts of teaching Pilates is watching the conversation shift from “what hurts?” and “how do we modify” to “what’s possible now?”
