Ranger and I have gone a lot of miles, spent a lot of nights together, and caught 1 or 2 deer together. Last night was the second deer of the year I’ve let him help recover. It was nice to see him get excited at a bay again but I think after that, I am going to retire him. He is getting worn out and slow so I feel like it’s time for him to officially pass on the torch. I am going to miss hearing his bawl when he jumps a deer and his bay bark that will make your hair stand up. That dog has taught me more than I have taught him about tracking. He was a one of a kind dog.
