๐๐๐ฆ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐จ๐๐ค๐๐จ๐ ๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ๐ฌ countdown is ๐โ!
The preparations are underway, the excitement is buildingโฆand the reality of getting TWELVE dogs ready for a road trip is officially setting in! ๐ซฃ๐คช๐
A new venue, a new state to add to our โstates visited map,โ an unfamiliar driving route, and a whole lot of planning ahead of usโฆ.But amid the excitement and chaos, thereโs one feeling that outweighs everything elseโฆ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐.
I firmly believe that the opportunity to compete with our dogs is an ๐๐๐๐๐ and a ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐. Itโs something I feel incredibly passionate about and something I will ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ take for granted. One of the countless things this journey with our dogs has taught me is that time is precious, tomorrow is never promised, and every opportunity to make another memory together is a ๐ ๐ข๐๐ญ.
We arenโt going to Worlds chasing distances, placements, or ribbons. We arenโt measuring our dogsโ accomplishments against anyone elseโs. Weโre going to celebrate our dogs, their journeys, and the moments weโre fortunate enough to share with themโฆ๐ฉ๐ผ๐ปโฆ to me, Worlds is also about so much more than ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ค๐ dogs. Itโs about celebrating the incredible DockDogs ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒโฆ.Cheering just as loudly for someone elseโs dog as we do our ownโฆ.Recognizing that every team has a story, every dog has overcome something, and every accomplishment deserves to be celebrated.
Worlds is also about those who ๐๐ซ๐๐ง'๐ญ there. Not every team gets another season. Not every dog gets another jump. And not every goodbye comes with a warning. Itโs about remembering 2- and 4- legged competitors who couldnโt make the journey this year - and - ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ฆ- the those who should still be standing beside us but left this world far too soon. Their absence is a reminder of just how fortunate we are to have yet another opportunity to create a memorable adventure with our dogs and with our friends who have become family.
Of course, before we can make those memories, thereโs the small matter of getting our 12-pack ready to travel! ๐คชโฆ and as fun and exciting as these adventures are, preparing for a dozen dogs, most with their own medical or behavioral challenges, is no small undertaking!
We are incredibly thankful for ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐๐ฒ and our packโs veterinary medical teams at ๐๐๐ ๐๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ฅ๐๐ง๐๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ข๐ญ๐๐ฅ and the ๐๐ง๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐ข๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ, who have helped us plan ahead, coordinate everyoneโs medications, and ensure that everyone is in good health and able to travel. โฆ An especially big thank-you to Dr. Hendley and his tech assistant, Hannah, at VCA Highlands, who truly have the patience of SAINTS as they perform ๐ertificates of ๐eterinary ๐nspections on our crew so they can travel to Wisconsin !
A huge thank-you to ๐๐ก๐๐ฐ๐ฒ.๐๐จ๐ฆ and ๐๐ฒ๐จ๐๐ข for assisting us in our preparations. Chewy has helped us stock up on food and treats, while Ryobi outfitted our 5th wheel and kennel area with fans to ensure our pups are kept comfortable. Both companies also generously donated items to the annual World Championships ๐.๐.๐.๐.๐. ๐
