If you haven’t heard about The Pursuit…

Between Rick Cruz Lunker Database and The Pursuit of Giant Bass, I’m pretty stoked about where the bass fishing industry is sitting with the way we use technology and apps to our advantage. I saw a couple of posts about The Pursuit last month and was only slightly skeptical about “another fishing app” but since it was being shared by a couple of guys I know are absolute hammers on the water: Kyle Cortiana Fishing and Brent Hill, I looked into it. At first it reminded me of that Bass U membership thing, which I’m not a huge fan of. But the more I clicked around the app the more I realized it’s not like anything else I’ve seen. Actual interaction with pro circuit competitors, guides, sponsors giveaways, etc. I won a $269 pair of glasses two weeks ago in a live drawing. There’s already a ton of advice and how-to videos posted, but not just more of the same YouTube stuff that every “influencer” is posting. There’s a free version and a premium version, as is with most all apps anyway. I gave it a couple weeks at the free level and them popped up to premium and have not been disappointed. Check it out, if you have questions just ask. There are no trolls busting on people for asking questions and looking for help or guidance like 99% of FB groups either.

My Pro-Guide Batteries multi-chemistry battery is larger than the previous stock charger footprint, so I stopped by to see my friends at Sartin Marine Inc. and they hooked me up quickly. Now the only Skeeter Products, Inc FXR21 in the ArmyBassAnglers fleet is fully mission capable and back on the water.

Should have done this back in January but was too busy. When you run too many days in a row without taking the time to make sure your gear is good to go, things can get messy and out of sync. In time crunch situations on the water sometimes things get tied on to not the best combo for that technique. So I spent this windy day respooling, correctly matching rods to reels and baits to combos,, and cleaning up my storage. Being organized and having correct setups makes your day on the water more productive and less stressful.

The smiles are what makes me keep going out.

Had the privilege and honor of answering when a fellow Navy veteran asked if I could take his family out for a short trip Saturday evening. They’ve had a hectic schedule lately with a lot of major life events and needed an outlet. He didn’t want anything complicated, just a fun no-pressure catching trip. We had an absolute blast telling sea stories while catching crappie and bass, but most of our entertainment came from Peyton. She’s only 8, but that little girl is a true catcherman.
