We grieve deeply alongside our Tahoe/Truckee mountain community after the tragic avalanche event on February 17th. We extend our sincere condolences to everyone affected. The magnitude of this loss cannot be put into words, and the lives lost cannot be summarized in a social media post. Please know that we, as fellow mountain guides and members of this greater mountain family, are holding you closely in our hearts.

The mountains are a place that unite us all whether we gather there to ski, climb, ride, hike, or simply admire. They connect our communities across disciplines and across ranges. In those shared spaces, we find joy, challenge, purpose, and belonging.

They also remind us of the responsibility we carry when we step into them. In honoring those we’ve lost, we recommit ourselves to humility, preparation, and continued learning.

To our fellow Tahoe/Truckee guides and mountain community: we stand with you. We grieve with you. And we remain united by the landscapes that shape us.

Please be safe out there. Take care of each other.

Just wrapped up a fantastic weekend on Sonora Pass for our Trad Climbing Retreat. Big thanks to everyone who joined us—it was an incredible crew and a great time exploring the cracks, walls, and views of the high country. Already looking forward to the next adventure!

This two-day course is built for climbers ready to step into traditional climbing or sharpen their foundation. You’ll spend the weekend learning and practicing:

Traditional gear like cams, nuts

Anchor building using traditional gear or bolts in many different configurations

Crack Climbing Movement and Technique
Racking and Gear Management

Belaying from above and building safe and sound belay anchors

Mock leads and coached placements on real rock

Intro to multi-pitch systems and rope management

Setting up top ropes, and risk management

Cleaning gear efficiently and avoiding rookie mistakes
