Youth Rugby Camp This Summer!

The Cedar Rapids high school rugby coaches are excited to partner with the YMCA to host a Co-Ed Youth Rugby Camp for incoming 6th–8th graders this summer!

This camp is OPEN TO EVERYONE in the Cedar Rapids community — no experience needed! Whether your child already plays sports or is looking to try something new, rugby is a great way to build confidence, teamwork, fitness, and friendships.

Led by Cedar Rapids high school rugby coaches, campers will learn the basics of rugby in a fun, positive, and active environment.

Big congratulations to former Headhunters coach and player Randy Kiburz on his induction into the Iowa Rugby Union Hall of Fame at the All Iowa Rugby Tournament!

Randy’s dedication, leadership, and passion for the game have left a lasting impact on everyone around him. This honor is well deserved and a true reflection of everything he’s given to rugby over the years.

Big congratulations to Randy “Kibby” Kiburz on his well-deserved induction into the Iowa Rugby Hall of Fame!

Randy will be honored at the All Iowa Tournament on May 2nd in Iowa Falls, and we’d love to see a strong Headhunter showing there to support him on his big day.

Let’s get a big group together and head to Iowa Falls to celebrate Kibby’s legacy and show our support. This is what rugby is all about—brotherhood, respect, and honoring those who built the game in Iowa.

This year, we recognize the 2004 DIII National Champion Muddy River Rugby Club, a team that made a historic run and left a lasting legacy in Iowa rugby.

We’re also proud to welcome this year’s individual inductees:

We are saddened to share that one of CR Rugby’s best ambassadors, Paul Garcia, passed away on Friday (8/8) from a heart attack.

Paul’s brother Mike is setting up a youth rugby scholarship in Paul’s name. If you’d like to support, donations can be made via Venmo: -garcia-617.

Paul’s family plans to hold a ceremony next summer, and we’ll share details once they are available.

Paul’s passing is a reminder of the importance of staying connected with the brothers we shared the pitch with.
