🏀 Exciting Improvements Are Coming to Mario Leal Park Pavillion✨

Our basketball pavilion is getting some much-needed TLC! Over the next few weeks, our team will complete several maintenance upgrades, including:

🏀 Painting the basketball backboards
⛹️ Installing new basketball rims
🎨 Repainting the basketball court and court lines
🏓 Adding new pickleball lines

🚧 For everyone’s safety and to protect the newly painted surface, we kindly ask our community to stay off the court until all maintenance is complete.

We’re excited to bring these improvements to Mario Leal Park and provide our residents with a refreshed space to play, stay active, and enjoy! 💙🌳

🎉 CONGRATULATIONS, COACH TERESA GALLEGOS! 🏃‍♀️💚

Elsa Parks & Recreation proudly congratulates Elsa Summer Track Club Coach Teresa Gallegos on being named the new Assistant Cross Country and Track Coach at Meridian Community College!

Coach Gallegos played an important role in the success of our summer track program this season. Her experience, leadership and dedication helped our young athletes strengthen their skills, build confidence and reach new goals.

A former standout athlete at Edcouch-Elsa High School, Coach Gallegos continued her athletic and academic journey at Alabama State University, where she completed her collegiate career and earned her degree. She now begins an exciting new chapter as a collegiate coach, taking the knowledge and passion she developed as an athlete back to the next generation.

Coach Gallegos, thank you for the positive impact you made on the Elsa Summer Track Club and our community. We are incredibly proud of you and know you will do an amazing job at Meridian Community College!

🏆 CONGRATULATIONS, DAVID HINOJOSA! 🏆

Elsa Parks & Recreation proudly congratulates Edcouch-Elsa ISD senior David Hinojosa on being named the TAAF Local Athlete of the Year! 🎉

David delivered an outstanding summer season in the 18U division. At the TAAF Games of Texas in College Station, he earned 6th place in discus while competing against talented athletes from across Texas. He also captured his second consecutive regional discus championship, becoming a back-to-back TAAF Regional Champion! 🥇

David’s accomplishments extend well beyond the summer season. Throughout his high school career with the Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets, he has:

🏆 Earned a district championship
⭐ Advanced as an area qualifier
⭐ Advanced as an Regional qualifier
📈 Broken three meet records

We are incredibly proud to have David represent Elsa Parks & Recreation and our community with dedication, strength and determination.

Even more exciting, we look forward to welcoming David back next summer as one of our throwing coaches! He will have the opportunity to share his experience and inspire the next generation of Elsa athletes. 💪
