The Team competition of the Chi-Town Throwdown is designed to be an all around test of fitness. The workouts were written to see how fit all 4 teammates were.

Each member of an Rx team should have a good balance of strength, gymnastics and aerobic capacity as they will need to display all of these to keep the team moving. There is nowhere to hide in these workouts, as each team member will be called upon to contribute equally.

The Team competition of the Chi-Town Throwdown is designed to be an all-around test of fitness. The workouts were written to see how fit all 4 teammates were. be made up of athletes who can Rx some workouts but might need to scale load or reps of high-level gymnastics of some workouts.

The Chi-Town Throwdown is programmed to test your overall fitness, and not just what skills you do/don't have. If you're on the fence about signing up, read below to get a better sense of what division might be best for you!

The Rx athlete is someone who has the strength and skills to Rx most every workout in the gym. They are likely a quarterfinals level athlete, but not quite semifinals. That said, these events will test you and you will need to push yourself to finish the workouts under the time caps!

The Intermediate athlete is someone who has a good level of fitness, can Rx some workouts but due to strength and high rep/skill gymnastics usually takes longer to Rx a workout, or needs to modify slightly to meet the recommended times. The CTTD Intermediate workouts scale some movements but mostly focused on reducing the volume to keep the challenge appropriate and not result in an overly watered-down workout.

Individual event 3 will begin 1 minute after the time cap of event 2. Athletes will have 1 attempt to do a max set of power cleans at their specified weight. While the bar may be paused in the rack, or hang position, it may not be rested on the ground or the crook of the hips, nor may the hands come off the bar during the set. Reps must be done "touch and go" style.

There will be 1 additional floater WOD for all individual athletes.

Team event 3 starts with one MF pair on a pull up bar, and the other pair at the rower. For Rx, the pair must do 25 synchronized toes to bar, with both pairs toes/feet touching the bar at the same time. For intermediate, the 25 reps may be split between the two partners as needed, with only 1 working at a time. While pair 1 is working on their TTB, pair 2 will be working on their calories on the rower. The male/female pair on the rower MUST switch at the designated reps, and the screen must be reset to 0 before the 2nd partner can begin.

All pairs will do 3 sets of toes to bar, and the corresponding number of calories. The calories on the rower increase each round in anticipation of the toes to bars needing to be done in smaller sets, and/or needing more rest to reach the required reps. This way, pairs MUST continue to push their pace both on the rower, and the toes to bar, to prevent their team from being held up.

This will be the 3rd and final event for the team competition.

Team event 2 is simple, each teammate will build to a heavy set of 5 on the thruster. The question you're probably asking is, "will it come from the floor or the rack?"...you'll have to sign up to find out! 😈😈😈
