Elmer Little League

Elmer Little League Elmer Little League provides Baseball and Softball programs for boys and girls ages 5 through 16.

Our main goal is to provide a sports program for our children to learn the fundamentals of Baseball or Softball, participate in a team sport and have a whole lot of fun! Following the guidelines set by Little League Baseball, Inc., playing a team sport can teach a child discipline, character, loyalty, commitment, and courage.

Elmer Little League Fall Registration

Fall Ball registration is now open! Please register your child by August 15. Practices start the first week of September. The season ends October 30.

Elmer LL’s fall ball program is meant to build on fundamentals and give players an opportunity to learn new skills by trying different positions. There are no playoffs or championship games, but there is a ton of fun.

The number and levels of teams we have will depend on how many players and volunteers register. We are opening registration to players age 5 to 15. Players from outside Elmer LL’s traditional boundary are welcome. Scholarships are available for families with need.

Players are encouraged to move up a level from where they played in the spring, if their age meets the range. For instance, if your child played T-Ball in the spring, she/he should move up to instructional league (coach pitch, real outs) in the fall. The age ranges are:

4-5 years old – T-Ball, if never played
5-8 years old – Instructional
8-11 years old – Minors
9-12 years old – Majors
13-15 years old - Juniors

Register today! Fee: $50, due the first day of practice. We delay payment until we know there are enough players and volunteers to field teams.

We had an incredible night hosting the Elmer LL/T-Mobile Home Run Derby. Peyton Andrie (bottom center) hit 70; Ricky Watt (bottom left) hit 36 and Blake Rodriguez (bottom right) hit 23! Depending on how others score in other leagues, Peyton may get an invitation for the East Coast regional competition at the Kansas City Royals Stadium. Two years ago, Cianna Gaines represented Elmer LL in Atlanta, Ga. for the East Region Softball HR derby, and then the the national championship in Williamsport, Pa.

What an incredible opening day! We started the day at 9 a.m., the first of three ceremonies, and just ended at 7:30 p.m with a fun junior softball game. In all, there were 9 baseball/softball games played at the Elmer Little Complex.

Thank you to the dozens of volunteers and local businesses who are making this season possible! We are off to a fantastic start.

Elmer LL to PLAY-BALL!

As you may have heard, Gov. Murphy announced on Friday that youth sports teams may start practicing June 22. We don’t know the exact parameters of what will be allowed (ie, coaches wearing masks, bleachers closed, concessions closed, sharing of bats, etc.), but we are excited about being able to plan our season.

We took a poll of the coaches to determine who would be available in the summer or if pushing the season to the fall would work better. Below are the results.

Softball: Jr., Majors and Minors will play a summer schedule. Whether they play or not may be determined by what other leagues are doing throughout the District.

T-Ball: Organizing 5- and 6-year-olds is difficult enough in a regular season, let alone having to worry about any social distancing requirements. With that said, we are going to cancel T-Ball this season. We are disappointed, but we are following LL International’s guidance and agree with them that it would be challenging for all involved.

Instructional Baseball: We are still polling the coaches.

Minors Baseball: Will be playing a summer schedule.

Majors Baseball: Will be playing a fall schedule.

Junior Baseball: Undecided

Later this week, we will email parents a survey so you can tell us your child’s availability to play according to the league he/she is in. Levels playing in the summer would start practices June 22 and play July 6 to August 15. Fall ball will likely start practices in late August with games starting after Labor Day. If too many players cannot play in a given season, we may need to reorganize teams.

For those who cannot play, we ask that you consider letting the league keep your fees and we will give you credit toward the next time your child plays. We have had quite a few expenses this spring and refunding everyone would be challenging. Of course, if you are facing financial difficulties or your child is no longer going to play in the league, we will provide a full refund—or accept your fee as a donation.

We thank you for your flexibility and patience. We understand people take vacations and they will miss games and practices, but at least we are able to offer kids a season. We know you likely have a lot of questions and we hope to give more answers when we email you the survey.

Thank you so much.
