The Small Messenger

My grandmother said the smallest wings
may carry the oldest prayers.
Nothing born of love is ever lost;
it only learns another way to return.

She taught me to greet the morning gently,
to thank the earth before taking,
and to leave a little sweetness
for every life that crosses mine.

When grief made a winter of my heart,
a quiet messenger came near.
It did not ask me to forget—
only to remember without fear.

Now I know why the ancestors speak softly:
truth needs no thunder to be heard.
Sometimes hope is only a heartbeat,
