Friends in Action A welcoming Senior Center with free, volunteer-powered services for older adults and adults with disabilities in Hancock County, Maine

Services include transportation, help with chores and errands, friendly visits, telephone reassurance and simple home repairs. We also operate a Senior Center that offers programs in Health and Wellness, Enrichment and Socialization. The center is located in a former school building and shares space with a preschool for a fun, intergenerational atmosphere.

We are so happy to see this multi-generational garden project under way. Great job everyone!

Friends In Action and the Moore Center will be closed tomorrow with the expected storm. We want all of our staff and patrons to have every opportunity to stay home and stay safe. If you have an emergent need or something time sensitive, leave a voicemail, I will be checking.

It's weekends away from the office and weather coming like this that makes me worry for our seniors. Please remember to check on your neighbors and those around you . In my experience, often those who need the most help are the last to ask. The cold temperatures alone are probably the biggest threat for folks who are heat insecure and have limited resources. Let's all watch out for others this weekend to the best of our ability. Stay safe and warm everyone! ❤️

Fitness at Friends in Action! We had a great 12 Days of Christmas workout and enjoyed some extra Holiday cheer together this morning. ☃️☃️

Would you like to know more about our fitness program and visit our fitness room on site⁉️

➡️➡️➡️January 2nd from 9:00 - 12:00 there will be a scheduled open house with one of the instructors from FIA.

Coach Europa will offer orientation to the fitness room machines and answer any questions you may have about the scheduled programs Friends in Action offers to the senior residents here in Down East Maine. No appointment necessary- walk ins welcome!
