Go Knights!!

Big news for Central Lake and Ellsworth athletics.

Both districts are proud to announce the launch of an expanded cooperative athletic program and a new shared identity: the Central Lake-Ellsworth Knights, competing in Honolulu Blue and Silver.

Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, the Knights will add JV and Varsity Girls Basketball to an already strong foundation that includes Football, Track & Field, Cross Country, and Golf. Additional programs are in discussion for future years.

This builds on something special. Central Lake and Ellsworth have run a cooperative football program together since 1991 -- the longest continuously operating MHSAA cooperative agreement in the state of Michigan. This is the next chapter.

The CL-E Knights are not Central Lake's team. They are not Ellsworth's team. They are ours.

Fun fact: Coach Willingham and Coach Hopp each led their teams to win the District Championship this year. The last time the Lancer boys and girls basketball teams won districts in the same year was in 1996, 30 years ago. Well done gentlemen, way to go Lancers. 🖤🏀🤍

First time in 30 years both boys and girls won their district!!

Congratulations to the Lady Lancer basketball team on their 46-41 victory over Burt Lake NMCA to clinch the District Title. This is the first Ellsworth girls district win since 2012. We are proud of our LANCERS! 🏀

The girls will take on Inland Lakes in the regional opener at Boyne Falls on Monday, March 9 at 7:00 pm.
