Velocity Volleyball Announces Assistant Club Director and Exciting 2026 Season Updates
Ellinwood, KS — Velocity Volleyball Club is thrilled to announce a major leadership update as the club heads into an exciting new era. Beginning in 2026, Mya Maxwell will take over as Assistant Club Director, bringing fresh energy, high-level experience, and a deep passion for youth volleyball to a program that has been part of the community since its founding in 2013 by her parents. Velocity Volleyball is a proud member of USA Volleyball through the Heart of America Region.
Mya is extremely excited to step into this role and lead Velocity into its next chapter. Her vision includes energizing and expanding opportunities for girls ages 8-18 throughout Ellinwood and surrounding communities, focusing on skill development, confidence-building, and love for the game at an early age.
✨Recent Success & Momentum
Velocity Volleyball is coming off several outstanding seasons, with teams achieving multiple levels of success, including national-level exposure. Many Velocity teams finished with top Heart of America rankings and impressive competitive accomplishments, reinforcing the club’s reputation for excellence and player development. Multiple Velocity players have experienced high level success at the state level in HS including state tournament championships and continuing on to play collegiate volleyball.
✨New for 2026: Private Lessons
One significant and exciting addition for the upcoming season is the introduction of private volleyball lessons, now being offered under Mya’s leadership. This enhancement allows athletes to receive individualized instruction and accelerated skill growth, complementing team training.
✨Elite Playing & Coaching Background
Mya brings a wealth of experience shaped by some of the strongest volleyball environments in the region and beyond:
. High School
Mya was a three time KVA All State player in the state of Kansas. She currently holds 3 major VB records at EHS including the all-time career Aces, Assists and Kill leader for Eagle Volleyball.
• Collegiate Playing Career
Played two seasons at Barton Community College contributing to successful 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Cougars.
• Collegiate Coaching Experience
Served as a student coach for three years at the perennially nationally ranked top ten D2 program the University of Nebraska at Kearney, during the 2023, 2024, and 2025 seasons. Under Coach Squiers guidance she gained invaluable insight into high-level training, match preparation, and athlete development.
• Club Coaching & Training
Has been an integral contributor to the development and success of Velocity’s teams and the girls who are competing for the top ranked 2A Ellinwood Eagles. She also coached for AVC Volleyball in Kearney, leading teams and providing private lessons, further refining her ability to develop athletes across all skill
Levels.
✨Commitment to Youth & Community
Mya will finalize her education by student teaching PE in Barton County at USD 428 Great Bend HS and Jefferson Elementary. Velocity Volleyball is excited for her involvement and looks forward to her continued leadership in developing youth programs and strengthening the club’s impact across the region.
