Criswell Holler Knives

Criswell Holler Knives Handcrafted knives, one at a time... Brock Smith started making knives in 2006. He was inspired by his Uncle James Smith and Grandfather, Warren Smith.

Both men had made knives from cross-cut saw blades for friends and relatives. Brock started a journey, searching for the best way to make a hard-working, edge-holding knife, out of the best carbon steel available. Starting out with Wayne Goddard's $50 shop book in hand, he got busy. Initially, he used just a bench grinder, files, and sandpaper. He would then heat treat the knives with a oxyacetyle

ne torch and used motor oil. Using these simple methods, he made better knives than anything that could be bought in the local stores. Criswell Holler Knives are made in Reynolds County, Missouri, just a few minutes ride to the beautiful Current River. Brock uses only the best 1095 steel that is produced for knife blades. His Evenheat oven takes the steel and holds it at a precise temperature. It is then quenched into the industry standard quenchant for High Carbon steel. The temper is then drawn in a calibrated oven for a hardness that is just right for holding an edge. A target of 57 Rockwell on a "C" scale is the aim for all his knives.
