Call a local Kayak Outfitter and they'll actually pick you and your kayaks up and take you back upstream so you can kayak back downstream to your cabin. How cool is that? The Cartecay Canoe House is equipped to sleep 6 with 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Enjoy eating in if you prefer with a fully equipped kitchen for the chef of the family, or venture out for some fine dining or nearby antique shops. Work weekend at the cabin is complete. We replaced the hot tub, put down some brown mulch around the cabin, installed a split rail fence, painted the downstairs bathroom, replaced the leather sofa, (love seat and chair are on backorder) and removed a few remaining dead trees from the storms late last year.

We spent the last month getting the house painted inside and out while the state of Georgia was locked down and not allowing rentals. The decking and dock got a new paint job also. Additionally, the large tree over the dock that kept dripping sap on the dock, has been removed. We left the last 15 feet so that we might have it carved into something.

Got up to the cabin today and planted some Hosta around the house.

Spring is one of the best times of the year to visit the North Georgia Mountains. We not only celebrate the apples in the Fall in Gilmer County, we celebrate the beauty of the blossoms in the Spring.

We have extended the driveway down the hill closer the cabin. Currently, the drive can only be used by 4 wheel drive vehicles. We hope to have some more compact gravel or concrete poured to allow all vehicles to use the drive.
