For Immediate Release:
MVP MOTORSPORTS ANNOUNCES LATEST ADVANCEMENT IN RACING TIRE RECAPPING
MVP Motorsports of Colorado has revealed that it has been working with racing teams from many different disciplines in order to help reduce the cost of tires for competitors across the country. In an interview with FloRacing, Ian McBride, president of MVP’s tech department said, “We’ve been keeping this research pretty secret for the past year, and except for a few hiccups, it’s been a pretty successful endeavor.” When asked about how the idea was originally formulated, McBride said, “ Well, I was prepping my son’s quarter midget tires before the start of the season last year, and started brainstorming how we could reduce the amount of tire waste while also saving our wallet from the hefty cost of racing tires these days. That’s when it hit me. –Trucking companies have been recapping tires for decades. Why don’t we just grind up our tire shavings and melt them back onto the tire?”
Although many sanctioning bodies have stated that they will not allow these tires to be run, McBride says that there should be no concerns about the legality of these tires. “Out of all the testing we’ve done throughout the past year, we’ve only had a couple bad tires come up with our product tester, Bobby Pierce.” McBride continued, “We’ve since changed over to a different type of catalyst for retreading our tires, and so far, no series has found anything else to complain about.”
Although most tire testing has been done with dirt late models and sprint cars, MVP plans to expand their technology into all motorsports, including one day, NASCAR. “With the huge push in mainstream motorsports to be “Green,” I think the timing couldn’t be better. I’m hoping one day I wake up to a phone call from Steve Phelps himself, telling me that he wants to run our recapped tires in the Cup series… Or at least the Xfinity series,” McBride laughed.
While most of the feedback MVP Motorsports has gotten on their ‘new’ tires has been doubt, there are a few drivers that believe in the project. “I think these tires are the next great thing to hit our world of motorsports… I really do. We’ve been running these things since about June of last year, and our results have been outstanding. Just this year alone, we began testing on the third version of the MVP recaps, and absolutely dominated the Wild West Shootout with them, and then carried that momentum down to speed week… Well, until they took our tires from us…” Pierce quipped.
MVP Motorsports plans to launch their full line of recap tires later this month, despite the outright ban that most major series’ have already imposed. McBride stated, “If the cease and desist letters from Hoosier didn’t stop us, what makes you think an outright ban on us will? These are the next big thing… Trust me bro.”
Happy April Fool’s Day from everyone at MVP Motorsports!
