Help Us Honor Gramma Genie
If you knew Genie Jones, you knew her most treasured title was Gramma.
There was nothing she loved more than showing up for her grandkids. It didn’t matter if it was a basketball game, a school event, a concert, or a celebration—if they were there, she was too. Her loudest cheers came from the sidelines, where she celebrated every accomplishment as if it were the greatest moment she’d ever witnessed.
Then Kovey found rugby.
At first, rugby was a complete mystery to her. But that didn’t stop her. She asked questions, learned the game, celebrated every new piece of knowledge, and before long, she had fallen completely in love with the sport.
What she discovered was so much more than rugby.
She found a community.
She loved the coaches who poured their hearts into every athlete. She admired the respect and sportsmanship the game teaches. She cherished the families who stood shoulder to shoulder on the sidelines, cheering for every player—not just their own. She loved the laughter, the friendships, and the sense that everyone belonged.
Watching Kovey play rugby became one of her greatest joys.
Even as her health declined, she continued to show up on the sideline. Rugby wasn’t just something her grandson did. It became something she loved because it brought her closer to him and to an incredible community.
To honor Gramma Genie, we hope to place a memorial bleacher at the rugby field—a place where families can gather, cheer, laugh, and create memories together, just as she did.
Our hope is that every time someone sits on that bench to watch a child, grandchild, teammate, or friend play, they experience a little of the love that Genie shared so freely.
This memorial won’t simply be a place to sit.
It will be a place where stories are shared, victories are celebrated, losses are comforted, and families come together. The very things Gramma Genie loved most.
Thank you for helping us create a lasting tribute to a woman whose greatest joy was simply being there.
Every gift, no matter the size, helps us honor her memory and continue spreading the love, encouragement, and community that meant so much to her.
Thank you for remembering Gramma Genie with us.
