It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of one of our coaches, Douglas Barr.

Doug was far more than someone who taught young athletes how to ride a mountain bike. Through his patience, steady encouragement, and genuine love of the trails, he helped riders build confidence, resilience, friendships, and a belief that they were capable of more than they realized. He was the coach athletes looked forward to seeing and a trusted mentor to others within our program.

Doug brought generosity, integrity, humor, and a spirit of adventure to everything he did. Whether sharing a trail, a campfire, a project, or a conversation, he made a lasting impression on the people around him. His influence will continue through every rider he encouraged and every coach who learned from his example.

Our hearts and prayers are with Doug’s wife, Lorraine, their son, Thomas, and all of his family and friends. We are deeply grateful that Doug chose to share his time, knowledge, and love of mountain biking with the Twin Valley Mountain Bike Team. His absence will be felt deeply, and his legacy will remain part of this team for years to come.

Rest in peace, Coach Doug. We will carry your encouragement with us on every ride.

Season 11 is here… and we think it’s going to be our best year yet.

Twin Valley Mountain Biking is gearing up for another incredible season, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome new and returning riders to the trails.

As one of the founding teams of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League (PICL), we’ve watched this league grow into one of the nation’s largest youth mountain biking communities. Today, PICL serves more than 1,400 student-athletes on 80 teams, supported by 900+ volunteer coaches, while staying true to its mission of getting more kids on bikes through fun, inclusivity, community, and adventure. (PAMTB)

At Twin Valley, that mission comes to life every time we ride.

Whether your goal is to race for the podium, build confidence on the trails, make lifelong friends, or simply spend more time outdoors, there’s a place for you here. Racing is optional.

This season we’ll be exploring new trails, building skills, giving back through trail stewardship, encouraging one another, and making memories that last long after the finish line.

Here’s to Season 11. Let’s make it unforgettable. 🚵💙

🚴‍♂️ Pros crash. So do we. Protect your brain.

This Tour de France crash is a good reminder that even the best riders in the world hit the ground—and a helmet only works when it is in good condition and fitted correctly.

Research involving 55 studies found that bicycle helmet use was associated with:

🧠 48% fewer head injuries
🧠 60% fewer serious head injuries
🧠 53% fewer traumatic brain injuries

Before your next Twin Valley MTB ride, check your helmet:

✅ Replace it immediately after a significant impact—even when damage is not visible.
✅ Replace helmets showing cracked foam, damaged shells, worn straps, missing pads, or a poor fit.
✅ Follow the manufacturer’s replacement schedule and retire helmets no later than five years after purchase. Some manufacturers recommend replacement sooner.
✅ Look for the CPSC certification label inside the helmet.
✅ Wear it level and snug—not tipped back—with the straps securely adjusted.
✅ When shopping, consider a helmet receiving 4 or 5 stars from the Virginia Tech Helmet Lab.

Your helmet is replaceable. Your brain is not.
