THE CHAMPION’S JOURNEY

From centuries of history to miles of coastline.

2025 St. Augustine Amateur Champion Adam Vermut and the Helmet trade the historic streets for the sand at St. Augustine Beach.

One of the things that makes the St. Augustine Amateur experience so unique is everything waiting beyond the golf course. Players and their families can compete in a nationally recognized championship, then find themselves along the Atlantic Ocean just minutes later.

Whether it’s an early-morning walk, an afternoon on the sand, or simply taking in the view, the coast is another reason to make your tournament trip more than just 54 holes.

For the players and families who travel to compete in the St. Augustine Amateur each December, championship golf is only part of the experience. Just beyond the course waits a destination filled with history, culture, coastline and experiences worth staying a little longer to discover.

Stop 01: The Old City Gates

For centuries, these gates have welcomed people into St. Augustine. Today, they mark the beginning of a different journey as our defending champion carries a piece of tournament tradition through the city we are proud to call home.

Over the coming weeks, follow Adam and the helmet through eight historic St. Augustine stops as we count down to the 2026 St. Augustine Amateur.
