Let adversity come. Let the weight grow heavy. Let the world test everything I claim to be. A man does not discover his character in comfort. He discovers it when retreat is tempting, when fear is present, and when no one is watching. I do not need the battle to be fair. I need only the courage to stand. The battle is not my punishment. It is my preparation.

Took a small group of competitors to Salt Lake this weekend from Elko and they killed it. Proud of the way all these kids battled wins losses whatever there’s not one quitter today and there was not one easy match. Every time we do competitions, these kids just amaze me. Forever truly grateful for the opportunity to do this so often with all of these guys.

Kids don’t need BJJ just to learn how to fight. They need to learn how to lose without quitting. How to struggle without making excuses. How to be uncomfortable and still move forward. One day, life will put them in situations where nobody can step in and save them. The goal isn’t to raise kids who never fall. It’s to raise kids who know they can get back up. We’re not just teaching jiu-jitsu. We’re preparing them for life.
