For the sake of the process, ive digitized and engraved my great grandpa's signature onto the tang of my American Bladesmith Society Journeyman performance test blade.
From the start in 2005 when I was given a knife he forged for my grandpa's military service, I have been pursuing the skill of forging knives and learning the process as best I can.
To my knowledge, my great grandpa never signed the knives he made so I thought it fitting to sign his name in his own hand for him on the blade I will use to attempt the first step to earn the JS stamp.
His signature will be permanently hidden under the handle of the blade to represent his silent influence on my life as a blademsmith, always there but never seen.
With any luck ill pass the performance test and then bring 5 blades to the ABS panel in Georgia next June to see if i am judged to make the JS status.

I have put together a new page on my website to show my marks used and their ranges of use. This stems from emails from people with knives that they believe are made by me because they have a wolf etched into them or the words "howling wolf" on them somewhere.
This page outlines my Makers marks and their date range of use. If it does not appear on this page, the knife was not made by me and I sadly cannot help anyone with warranty, information requests about the manufacture or to whom it was sold.

Welcome to the the page dedicated to dating your knife made by Howling Wolf Knifeworks. Here is a list of all of the makers marks we have used and their date ranges. If it does not bear one of these marks, It was not done by us. Pat began forging knives in 2005, first salable knife was 2010. While
