🎒🐴 BACK TO HORSE SCHOOL: Know Your Gaits

Can you tell the difference between a walk, trot, canter and gallop?

In this video, Andi and Glory demonstrate four common horse gaits and how each one looks as the horse increases speed.

Learning to recognize and ride different gaits is an important foundation for every equestrian—and another skill Liberty Lane students build as they become more confident, capable riders. 🌟🐴

🎒🐴 BACK TO HORSE SCHOOL: What Is Collection?

Collection is when a horse carries more weight on their hindquarters, engages their core and moves in better balance.

Why does it matter? Collection helps a horse become more balanced, responsive and controlled, making movements like turns, transitions and stops smoother and more efficient.

In this video, Andi demonstrates what collection looks and feels like and why it’s such an important skill for both horse and rider.

Building better riders means learning how and why our horses move—not just where we want them to go. 🐴🌟

🎒🐴 BACK TO HORSE SCHOOL: Arena Etiquette

Knowing how to safely pass another rider is an important part of sharing the arena.

In this video, Andi and a Liberty Lane student demonstrate both the wrong way and the right way to pass another horse and rider.

Good arena etiquette means communicating, giving plenty of space and staying aware of the horses and riders around you. These small habits help keep everyone safer and make riding more enjoyable for all.

Another important skill our students learn as they become confident, responsible equestrians. 🌟🐴

🎒🐴 BACK TO HORSE SCHOOL: Saddling With Care

Saddling isn’t just about getting ready to ride—it’s also about making sure your horse is comfortable.

At Liberty Lane Stables, we cinch our horses up a little differently. In this video, Andi demonstrates the Texas T knot and shows how we gently tighten the cinch in stages before riding.

Taking a little extra time helps make saddling a better experience for both horse and rider—and can help prevent a horse from becoming sore, sensitive or reactive to being cinched.

Good horsemanship starts with kindness, patience and paying attention to your horse. ❤️🐴

🎒🐴 BACK TO HORSE SCHOOL: Grooming With a Purpose

Grooming is about more than getting your horse clean!

As Andi shows us, it’s also a great time to check for bumps, cuts, sores, swelling or anything unusual.

At Liberty Lane Stables, we teach our students that good horsemanship means taking care of your horse—not just riding. ❤️🐴

Another important skill in our Skill Tree lesson program! 🌟

🐴💛 A BIG MILESTONE FOR LAILAH & HOPE!
This past weekend, Hope did her very first lope under saddle — and we couldn’t be more excited for her and Liberty Lane student Lailah!

Andi adopted Hope from Pony Tales Refuge & Rehab last October, and since then, Lailah has been working patiently with her to help Hope learn how to become a riding horse. This moment is the result of months of consistency, trust and teamwork.

Watching them lope together for the first time is such a special reminder that progress with horses doesn’t happen overnight. It’s built one ride, one lesson and one small victory at a time.

Watch the video and help us congratulate Lailah and Hope on this amazing milestone! 🎉🐎

🎒🐴 BACK TO HORSE SCHOOL: Posting the Trot

Posting trot is all about finding your horse’s rhythm and learning to rise and fall with each stride.

It takes balance, timing and practice—but once it clicks, it can make the trot more comfortable for both horse and rider.

At Liberty Lane Stables, skills like posting trot are part of the building blocks students work on as they progress through our Skill Tree lesson program. 🌟

One skill at a time, our riders are becoming more confident, capable equestrians!

🎒🐴 BACK TO HORSE SCHOOL: Competition 101

Before you compete, you need to know how a show works!

Our Walworth County Fair Team is learning competition terminology and how to follow the “order of go” so they know when it’s their turn to ride.

🌟 Competing on the Walworth County Fair Team is one of the special opportunities available exclusively to Liberty Lane lesson students.

Because becoming a confident competitor starts long before you enter the arena!
