Every parent starts this journey without a playbook.

Looking back, what's something you've learned as a softball parent that you wish you'd known sooner?

Whether you're just getting started or your daughter has already finished her playing career, your experience could encourage another family who's walking this path today!

Can't wait to read the great advice shared here! 💕🙌

Welcome to the first BreakThrew Question of the Week!

Each week, I'll ask one question to get pitchers, parents, coaches, and former players talking. There aren't any right or wrong answers—just a chance to learn from each other's experiences and perspectives!

This week's question is simple:
If you could give every young pitcher ONE piece of advice, what would it be?

👇 Drop your answer in the comments, then take a minute to read what others have to say. You never know whose words might make a difference to a young pitcher.

The truth is... 👀👇

Most of us don't realize we're living the good part until it's already over.

We spend so much of our lives looking toward the next big thing...

• The places we can't wait to get to.
• The goals we've been chasing for years.
• The dreams we can't wait to reach.
• The finish lines we think will change everything.

Those are the moments we think we'll remember forever.
But years later, but it's usually something else.

• It's Dad catching a bullpen after a long day at work.
• It's Mom cheering just a little louder than everyone else in the stands.
• It's braiding your teammate's hair before each game.
• It's the bus rides home after games.
• It's hitting one more bucket of balls in an empty ballpark while your little brother shags for you.

For me...
• It's walking my almost 15-year-old pups every morning.
• It's spending time with my Mom.
• It's drinking coffee with my Dad.
• It's lake days.
• It's sushi nights.
• It's family get-togethers.
• It's any time spent with my nieces and nephews.
• It's morning phone calls with friends.
• It's getting to watch my students grow into strong, confident, resilient young women.

None of those moments feel extraordinary while they're happening. But someday, they'll be the moments I'll wish I could have back.

The truth is, it's always the simple things that end up meaning the most.
• The people.
• The routines.
• The ordinary moments we almost forget to notice.

Those are the moments that quietly become the story of our lives.

Don't wait until something is over to realize how special it was while you were living it. Because someday, today's ordinary moments may be the ones you miss the most! 💕

The answer is... curveball! 🥎

There were a lot of different guesses—and that's exactly why I wanted to share this clip.

Learning to recognize spin is a skill. It's something pitchers and catchers need to be taught and practice over time.

When pitchers learn to see the difference between sideways spin, backward spin, forward spin, and gyro spin, they start to understand why the ball moves the way it does. And when catchers learn to recognize spin, they become better communicators, receivers and even game callers!

One of my favorite ways to teach spin is by using different training tools that make it easier to both see the spin and feel what your fingers should be doing to create it. Once pitchers understand what the correct spin looks and feels like, it becomes much easier to transfer that feeling to a softball.

It's one of the many skills we'll be working on during the Summer Development Program... will you be joining us?! I hope so! 🤞💕

What spin are we working on?

Learning to recognize spin is an important skill for both pitchers and catchers. It's one of the many things we'll be working on during the Summer Development Program.

What's your guess? ✍️👇

Three days.
Fifteen hours.
Small groups.
Incredible coaches.

If your pitcher or catcher is looking for a summer experience that goes beyond drills and creates real growth, this is it. 💕

Plus, every athlete receives pre-event preparation and three weeks of post-event workouts and follow-up to keep the momentum going.
