Hillside MTB trail - User Group

Hillside MTB trail - User Group This page is a public page for and by the users of Hillside Park, and not moderated or administrated by anyone officially affiliated with the trail.

DirtWirx left it open as a courtesy to Hillside fans so they'd have an open forum.

Posting a request from a user: "Please request any trail users to contact police if they saw people walking the trails yesterday with a safe & computer. There was a theft at our house along hillside between 9 am - 11:30 pm"

Reminder: This is a for the riders, by the riders page, in the interest of keeping it real at Hillside. No one "official" maintains/moderates this page anymore, and the powers that be have chosen not to use it. (Those who know the backstory can figure out why the City doesn't want this page used i'm sure.) Use it to discuss all things Hillside and keep each other informed. :) No one affiliated with this page even bothers riding here anymore.

Like Montiview Mountain Bike Challenge Course's page and "get notifications" to be in the Montiview loop and keep up with DirtWirx's new home trail in Monticello. We'll be building trail and features all summer. Come play in the dirt with us! :)

This page is run by the volunteer trail crew, who you can contact with questions, ideas or concerns at [email protected].

I guess Hillside is officially a MORC trail now. This page will remain in the hands of you-- the users. It is not sanitized enough for the city, which suits us fine. Keep on keeping it real, Hillsiders.

Reminder: Hey Hillsiders--- there are over 600 of you following this page and every one of you is able to post on here now. You guys need to be more proactive about checking the trail and letting other riders know what's up. There is no one "on deck" anymore. It's up to you now. I'm happy to contribute when I can, but would like you riders to take up the charge here. I don't even go to the park anymore at this point because it bums me out too much, sooo.... Please start using this as YOUR page to post conditions etc. :)

(Edit: the tree has since been cleared, but the basic problem persists, and is serious, so leaving this post up.)

DANGEROUS TREE ALERT: Bottom of the largest descent on B3, right after the huge climb.
Attention: City of Elk River Parks and Recreation
(For some reason fb is not letting me tag them, so hopefully they still monitor this page)--

There are now a number of downed trees on the trail that have been there for longer than acceptable. Users have stopped reporting them because your method of riding the Rokon through the entire trail to hunt for them is unacceptable. They would rather climb over and through trees than have your crew enter the park and damage the trail in an attempt to remove them. You need to coordinate with whatever volunteers you currently have, and ask them to show you where these are so the users of this park can safely ride this trail. Show the public you are actually interested in cooperating with your users and volunteers by solving this problem in a way that does not harm the trail.

Hillside's good to go.

05/24/2016

Tons of rain up here. Going to take a day or three to dry up, and with more rain in the forecast-- don't bet on Hillside dirt until next week (unless they're wrong and we get a few days in a row of no rain.)

A user has reported a tree down in 2. If you get a more specific location on that please post. Otherwise tacky.
