My name is Dave Masland. I am a new resident of Elizabethtown, PA, and an avid disc golfer. I have been exploring many of the courses in our area, but I miss one thing: Having a course within ten minutes where I can run out for a quick round and be back in an hour! Every course is 30+ minutes away! I am wondering if anyone else in E-town wishes they had a course nearby???
If so, I'd like to gather us to discuss the idea of building a new disc golf course somewhere in or near E-town. The vision is to start a local club, and work together to find a plot of ground with varied terrain, and to build an interesting layout complete with some open (grip it and rip it) holes and some technical (thread the needle or die) holes. If you'd like to explore starting such a group, and can envision yourself volunteering some hours and sweat equity to build such a course, please say so here in this space!
If there are 5-6 interested people, I will convene a meeting via Zoom to talk and explore ideas together.
FYI... I helped a relatively new DG club in Binghamton, NY (5 years old) build two new courses in the last 3 years. So, I have some experience finding land and municipal partners, raising money, laying out a course, pouring t-pads, organizing volunteer help, etc. One thing I learned is it takes a strong team, and many helping hands to pull it off.
