Watching your kids from the sideline is always amazing. However, in the offseason, we are more poolside than finding ourselves at a soccer field. Still, there’s nothing better than tuning in to view amazing soccer.

There are prime time soccer skills on display during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Soccer legends are lacing up their cleats and donning their country colors competing in a game we all love.

Messi, with Argentina, made history on Tuesday with his first World Cup hat trick. Mbappé had two goals of his own for France. Playing for Portugal, Ronaldo opened up his tournament this week.

Sure, these aren’t our kids playing, but they are the names our kids are talking about. So if you’re wondering what to watch for the next few weeks, turn on the World Cup and talk about the game to grow in soccer knowledge and lingo in the offseason. Fall will be here before you know it!

You better believe that when we've got tea, we're gonna spill it. 👀

While I know that the Weekly Whistle is the top of your reading list for obvious reasons (ahem), I can't imagine many in our league are regularly checking for updates to the Unites States Youth Soccer age chart.

This fall, 2026, the USYS model will change to a seasonal year based on an August 1 to July 31 cutoff. This is a national, collective decision. The shift will better align to school year ages to promote to playing among peers.

You will see this reflected in our upcoming fall registration and the birth chart is included here with our registration costs.
