Unaka Varsity Rangers Triumph Over University School

Unaka Varsity Rangers were victorious against University School 8-4 on Monday.

Unaka Varsity Rangers opened the scoring in the first after Kacie Bare singled, scoring one run.

Unaka Varsity Rangers added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Brooklyn Campbell singled, scoring one run, and an error scored two runs.

Unaka Varsity Rangers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Kimberly Proffitt doubled to center field, and Kelsey Pasquale singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

University School scored three runs in the top of the fifth on a home run to center field by Linkous.

Two more Unaka Varsity Rangers runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 8-3. Katlyn Dugger laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run, and Bare hit a solo home run to center field.

Proffitt earned the win for Unaka Varsity Rangers. The starter gave up five hits and three runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking two. Williams took the loss for University School. The starter went six innings, surrendering eight runs (five earned) on 10 hits, striking out two and walking two. Bare appeared in relief for Unaka Varsity Rangers.

Unaka Varsity Rangers tallied 10 hits in the game. Campbell set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Unaka Varsity Rangers with three hits in four at bats. Bare, Campbell, Dugger, Proffitt, and Pasquale each drove in one run for Unaka Varsity Rangers. Devalynn Harter collected two hits for Unaka Varsity Rangers in four at bats. Campbell stole three bases. Unaka Varsity Rangers stole four bases in the game.

Linkous led University School with three runs batted in. Linkous went 3-for-3 on the day. Luck collected two hits for University School in four at bats.
