America's Boating Club Portsmouth, NH We are the NH seacoast non-profit chapter of the United States Power Squadron, "America's Boating Club." We will help you

LEARN boating skills.

ENGAGE in fun boating activities. CONNECT with the boating community. Our objectives and purpose:

The first is the education of the public and our members, second is participation in civic programs and third to promote an atmosphere of friendship and camaraderie. Additional objectives of this squadron are:

To selectively associate congenial persons of good character having a common lov

e and appreciation of yachting as a nationwide fraternity of boatmen;

To encourage and promote a high amateur standard of skill in the handling and navigation of yachts, power and sail; to encourage and promote the study of the science and art of navigation, seamanship and small boat handling; to develop and promote instructional programs for the benefit of members; and to stimulate members to increase their knowledge of and skill in yachting through instruction, self-education, and participation in marine sports activities and competitions;

To encourage its members to abide by recognized yachting traditions, customs and etiquette; and

To render, and encourage its members to render, such altruistic, patriotic or other civic service as it may from time to time determine or elect. The widely recognized education program consists of courses broken down into two groups of Advanced Grades and Electives. Advanced grades are Seamanship, Piloting, Advanced Piloting, Jr. Navigation and Navigator. The elective courses are Marine Engine Maintenance, Marine Electronics, Sail, Weather, Cruise Planning and Instructor Development. These courses are all taught by our own experienced member instructors. Our civic contributions to the public start with a Basic Boating Course which is offered at least once a year, a cooperative agreement with the National Oceanic Atmospheric Association (NOAA) Nautical Chart Program informing them of additions and corrections and the Vessel Safety Check Program done in conjunction with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and the National Alliance of safe boating law administrators. There are a number of social activities, which include cruises, rendezvous', sail races, dinners, picnics, field trips and meetings with program speakers. There are also many fun activities the Squadron enjoys as a group. We have Pot Luck Suppers which bring out the genius in food items, social events, teaching events and much more. Check out our Gallery for pictures of some of our fun things that happen within the Squadron.

She’s a beauty, lucky Sea Challenge kids!

Discover the Denis Sullivan: A replica
3-masted schooner from Milwaukee, WI, now moved to Boston, MA. Originally a sail training classroom and a flagship for Wisconsin and UN Environment Programme, she's inspired by 19th-century Great Lakes schooners. Seacoast teens chosen for Sail Portsmouth's Sea Challenge will spend a week learning to sail aboard this historic vessel.
