Congratulations to Hardin County Conservation! They were recently awarded $650,000 in Destination Iowa grant funding from the Iowa Economic Development Authority for improvements to Pine Ridge Park. The project will construct a new special events center along the Iowa River and will provide a comprehensive park redevelopment including a new sanitary sewer line, new shower houses, new dump station, and demolition of the old Boat Club. The total project investment in the area is over $2.5 million! https://www.timescitizen.com/news/tourism-grant-benefits-pine-ridge-park-lodge-project/article_e0899702-07b8-11ef-9044-4b1bdc8b6243.html #:~:text=The%20Hardin%20County%20Conservation%20Board,Ridge%20Park%20(Steamboat%20Rock).

Attention, Iowa trail lovers!

Today at noon, join Rails to Trails Conservancy (RTC) for a celebration of 5 years of incredible progress for the Great American Rail-Trail, which is a cross-country trail spanning more than 3,700 miles from Washington State to Washington, D.C.

In Iowa, the route is more than 50% complete, with 251.4 of the total 463.6 miles already in existence.

or find on their website at: www.greatamericanrailtrail.org

"When RTC announced the route of the cross-country trail in 2019, people from across the country came together to mark the moment when the idea for this iconic piece of American infrastructure was introduced. At the time, it was hard to envision the nation’s outpouring of enthusiasm for this trail across the country—the first entirely bikeable route that is separated from vehicle traffic across the continent.

On Dec. 17, we’ll dig into the impact that this vision has had and the progress that’s been made to complete the route. From hundreds of millions of dollars in investment, to new miles and connections made, economic opportunities tapped, and bikepacking adventures unlocked, we’ll explore the ways that the Great American Rail-Trail is transforming the country.

During this event, we’ll be featuring the Leafline Trails Network, Bainbridge Island, Warrior Expeditions, Steubenville Ohio, Strong Towns Steubenville, First Ave / Council Bluffs, and Omaha."
