As the sun sets on 2025, we are also closing the logbook on the retail chapter of SOS Diving.

Four years ago, we opened our doors with a simple mission: to share our passion for the underwater world. Since then, we’ve certified hundreds of new divers, explored reefs and wrecks together, and built a community that turned a dive shop into a second home for so many of us.

Today is our final day of retail operations. While SOS Diving is transitioning to focus on our commercial partnerships in 2026, we want to take this moment to focus on you, our recreational divers.

To every student who took their first breath underwater with us, every customer who stopped in just to chat about gear, and every staff member who made this place special: Thank you.

You made these last four years an adventure we will never forget.

Safe diving, and Happy New Year.

Season's Greetings from all of us at SOS Diving. We would like to inform you that our store will closing on Christmas Eve at 1 PM and will be closed on Christmas Day. We will resume operations on Saturday, the 27th, to cater to all your scuba needs. Should you require any last-minute items for your divers this Christmas, we invite you to visit us before 1 PM on the 24th.

After much consideration, SOS Diving has decided to transition our business model. Effective January 1st, 2026, we will be closing our retail showroom and walk-in service center to focus exclusively on our growing commercial and government service divisions. Unfortunately, this means we will no longer be offering recreational dive training, retail sales, or consumer gear servicing after December 28th, 2025.

While we are stepping away from the retail counter, SOS Diving is not disappearing; we are simply shifting our resources to support our commercial partners full-time.

We want to say a huge thank you to every student, diver, and friend who walked through our doors. It has been a privilege to be part of your underwater adventures.

Dive photos are notorious for hiding detail in plain sight. Heavy blue saturation and deep shadows can mask incredible moments, making "raw" images look flat. But with a little time and technique in photo manipulation software, you can often push those pixels to reveal a wealth of hidden information.

By carefully adjusting color channels, exposure, and shadows, photographers can "push" the pixel values to reveal textures, colors, and even subjects that were initially obscured.

Regulators allow you to breathe where you otherwise could not, and they're a marvel of physics.

Your average scuba regulator takes compressed air from the tank (often over 3,000 PSI) and reduces that pressure over the course of two stages, delivering the air to your lungs at the exact ambient pressure of the surrounding water. This allows for a smooth, natural breath whether you're 5 feet under water of 50 feet. Understanding and trusting this technology is the first step to becoming a confident diver.

Ready to learn the science behind the gear? Our Open Water Diver Course will make you an expert.

We're not saying we condone this type of... unconventional dive planning. At all.

But, hypothetically, if you were to suddenly find your pockets $20,000 heavier and needed to gear up for your next "expedition," we're here to help. We have a fantastic selection of low-profile masks and fins. Just saying.

For all non-heist related diving adventures, stop by the shop!

Before a diver can explore reefs, wrecks and the open ocean, we master the fundamentals in a controlled environment. The pool is our laboratory. Here, new divers can focus entirely on the relationship between their gear, their body, and the water without variables like current or visibility.

Your journey to becoming a certified diver starts in the clear, calm waters of our training pool. Sign up for a Discover Scuba or Open Water Diver course today!

This 'safety sausage' is designed to be seen. A delayed surface marker buoy (DSMB) is a diver's way of saying "I'm here, and I'm coming up."

The real challenge is managing buoyancy and gas laws. The diver must add just enough air from their regulator to inflate the buoy at depth. As the DSMB ascends, the surrounding water pressure decreases, causing the air inside to expand according to Boyle's Law (P1V1 = P2V2).

The goal is to deploy the buoy and its line smoothly while maintaining perfect neutral buoyancy, which is pretty hard when a balloon's pulling you upward!
