Parker got it done at the Irwindale NHRA Division 7 Race! Our whole racing family did awesome, and the kids support of each other is so fun to watch and grow. More amazing memories and a Wally to bring home feels good. Proud of this kid 💪

Crazy start to this year’s March Meet! Can’t say enough about our racing family and the racing community….Wednesday started great and car ran the number. Hot lapped back to lanes for D Gas and right rear slick is down. Ran over something….joy. Limped through it filling air just before the run, but now the car then didn’t run right. Hoosier got me dialed in with a new set of slicks we, adjusted carburetor as that was only change and went back up for round 2. The car fell on its face bad, after troubleshooting it was decided I now broke the sprag on the torque converter. Could have given up but that’s not what we do. Pulled out the transmission which is a nightmare. Torsion bar, Spark plugs, headers, extensions, steering shaft, starter, driveshaft all have to come to drop the trans. Calls started going out by the announcer and everyone on property and converters started hitting my trailer. At one point I had 5 converters on my bench, even one built for 4000 horsepower lol. Everyone offered up their spares, but none were the right setup for the car. We were settling for one, started putting in but about midnight I decided to pause and concede to missing Thursday qualifying. Turns out it was the right decision as we found out the converter we were going to put in was not going to handle the horsepower my car makes, would have been a waste. Thursday morning I finished some machining flexplate bolts and everyone was still making calls. Jeff from Dice Converters came to the rescue! Borrowed a truck and hauled ass to Lancaster. Four hours later I’m back to the track, a couple more hours it’s together tested by 5pm Thursday. Such a good feeling of support and accomplishment, a great group of racers and family that helped and were willing to do anything. Special thanks to Mark Fenton who wrenched non stop and lent me his truck, Steve Labarber wrenched and hunted converters and Chuck Padgett was “on fire” wrenching. Many others involved but these guys are awesome. If you know you know. Next morning the car was back and running the number. Rained out Today but will be back at it tomorrow morning for round 1.

What a week at the 2023 March Meet at Famoso Drag Strip. Not sure it’s really sunk in yet but winning the March Meet will be a memory that will last a lifetime. Bucket list item has been crossed off. It was my day, my weekend and I was able to put the Dodge on the dance floor in both Hot Rod and D Gas…..8 rounds in Hot Rod, 6 rounds in D, 11 of which were ran on Monday due to rain. Back to back non stop all day long hot lapping. Can’t say enough about the car and what I consider one of the best bracket engines ever built by my Dad, Dan Cargill. It’s still the matching numbers 440 block the car came with when my grandma and grandpa bought the car in ‘67. The new bullet was supposed to be in the car but didn’t show in time, and happy it didn’t. This motor will be retired now and go on a stand after going thousands of rounds ending with a Double up at the March Meet. So many years of chasing the win at the March Meet and it happened! Twice! So blessed and thankful…..

Thank you to my family for allowing me to be gone for 6 days! They had to go home Sunday for school and work but got the play by play.

To all the track staff at Famoso, you are the best and thank you for giving us an amazing surface to run on even in the cold rainy weather.

The rest of Championship Sunday got pushed to Monday. It wouldn’t be the March Meet without some rain! The Family had to head home for school and for those of us still in we are sticking it out.

We had our last race of the season at ANRA and Parker book ended the year with another win! He clinched the track championship with 4 wins and a semi final finish this ANRA season to put him on top and we couldn’t be more proud. Kid has been on fire! So much to reflect on and so many memories shared with our racing family this year, ending it this way was unbelievable. Even I knocked off the cobwebs and got the Dodge out and went 5 rounds in two classes! Drakes Double championship to end his junior career is so cool, getting to help Mason license at 5 years old, racing my brother from another mother Steve Labarber like we have for 25 years, launching rockets and having a Friendsgiving with amazing people make this a weekend one we will never forget. So much happened im sure there things im forgetting. We are so proud of all the winners and racers!

Parker puts in on the Dance Floor at the ANRA Fall Nationals! He’s been focused, determined and on fire with his hot rod. Got to bring home a huge trophy supporting breast cancer awareness month and some dough. We are so proud of him!!! The weekend was another one for the books…. my mom and dad made it out, track or treating for Halloween, wrenching on cars between rounds, trailer repairs, rv repairs, ez up fixes, haircuts in the pits, water balloons, rockets and of course the evening shenanigans with our racing families. Thank you so much Butch Headrick and Cindy Headrick for another great event!

Needed a few days to recoup, but JR Dragster Finals in Vegas never disappoints!!! This year, we were Team “ANRA 51” ready to Abduct the Wally!!!! 🏆👽🛸 And we had a blast, keeping our spirits up in the super hot heat! 🥵

Parker had to battle this weekend, running in the heat and winds all day long, up to 8-12mph. Friday night while Jesse firing up the car, and I gently nudge him to indicate fuel was leaking. So we had to forfeit in the second round. The next day we had the Race of Champions where all the number ones from each track race each other, we had a bonus race and then into the night with a 4-wide race, went some rounds but bowed out early. We ended up having a great day, dressing up in costumes 👽 👾🛸, having good friends visiting, our teams dinner in the pits and watching gnarly locust take over the lights!! 🤢🦗

Sunday, we wake and welcome a new day of racing!! It was the main event for the D7 Jr Finals. Parker not only pulled his day round, but went 6 rounds to make it to the final!! 🏁 He made it to the final 2 cars, head wind suddenly stops, lights go,🚦, both green, Parker cuts a .038 light, to the other kids’ .003, he chased him down as it was a slower car and took the stripe…but he broke out…he went too fast. He gave it his all and came home with a runner up 🏆and 💰!! I'm so beyond proud of Parker and his Crew Chief . Both worked their butts off and Parker’s driving was on point all day on both ends of the track.

Catching up! August 6 we got into the Match Race Madness Event at Irwindale. They raced all age groups together with a random pairing each round. Parker got passed two older kids in 8.90 cars and another 11.90 car to put us into the final with a 16 year old running 7.90! That’s 4 seconds and 30 mph faster than we run lol. We were all set to go before just before 10pm curfew, strapped in, dials set, race faces on, and some racer decided to take out all the timing cones on the track….Kids had to split the final and Parker took home hardware and $$! Was a fun and packed event! The kid did amazing, backing in on faster cars that he normally doesn’t race against and cutting .005 lights in eliminations…. He was on fire. We stayed the night for the Sunday Summit Race, qualified good, but the event couldn’t finish because of more track issues. We were ready to do it again!
