Hey PPG family — if you’ve ever checked the weather before flying (which should be every flight), you’re gonna love this one.
I just got an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of the National Weather Service here in El Paso — and let me tell you, seeing how our forecasts are actually made blew my mind.
✅ We launched a 100,000-foot weather balloon (with my son Leo doing the honors).
✅ We stood next to that giant Doppler radar ball you’ve probably seen in photos.
✅ And we got a full explanation of how they create the METARs, TAFs, and wind data we rely on as pilots.
This is exactly the kind of aviation knowledge I love sharing on The Paramotor Podcast page — because understanding weather makes all of us safer pilots.
